I actually think the first one sounds better. It's a bit quieter and the low-end isn't as prominent but you get much more space and dynamic. The elements have room to breathe... fuck squashing the life out of your music to adhere to some ridiculous pissing contest.

thanks you that means alot....

I really am digging the dark vibe, and big fan of the drums.... Well done!! Sounds very professional, surprised you didn't get more votes but from the sounds of it it's more of a popularity contest maybe?

It's more of a contest to see who's got the most friends.

I prefer the second.

It is rather obvious some fixes are needed in the mixdown because both the master or the original have a points that need some attention in my opinion.

Well that seems kinda pointless, so you could have an amazing remix but if you're a complete loner you don't stand a chance?

I do prefer the second too, I was listening with some crummy ear buds so I guess it's not the best way to judge the mixing. it sounded ok to me, but then again I don't have a great ear for problems within a mixdown unless it's glaringly obvious.

I don't know what they do with these like counts so I can't say. What I can say is that one who is more active online is likely to get a lot more votes than your average guy from around the corner with his awesome remix.

I just think it's there to try and maximize exposure for the contest. Not so much the individual mixes.

thanks for feedback...means alot..yeah i do understand that i need to work harder on mixdown

yeah the way this is voted is soo soo bad... i mean i have hear a few with little or no votes that i just kept replaying cau it was that good

You aint that Hai Lee Chen dude are you?

The first mix sound a lot, lot better in my opinion. The master version's kick sounds plastic now and sticks out far too much, not digging it.

Actual tune reminds me of Rui Da Silver remix of made by monkeys - think of you.

Great effort.

Best luck.

Hai Lee is a friend of mine. He is definitely not Hai Lee lol. Where did this come from, it seems so random?

I dunno perhaps cause his name has Lee in it and I'm sure somewhere on this board he put up some sick downloads.

Second one sounds better, bottom end is much tighter

Posted by EliPsE on Jul-11-2011 16:14:

I do feel the first mix has more space to breathe, but still needs some work. The second mix sounds over compressed. Obviously that would bring that bottom end out like that but I don't feel it has enough dynamics. It's squashed too much and lifeless.

From the begining you hear on the mastered version the toms sound alot more clicky and deep, the self mastered version does not jump out at you as much.
Kick has alot more thump to it.

Then when the offbeat hi hat starts, in the self mastered version, sounds terrible.
Pro mastered version it fits into the mix better.

Thats just the first minute of the track. I cant be bothered going through the rest.

Posted by evo8 on Jul-12-2011 15:08:

2nd version sounds better - main reason being the kick sounds totally different and the main hi-hat has been tamed

Also it sounds louder which automatically makes it sound better when compared to the first version

There is a book called Mastering Audio by Bob Katz.. i highly recommend it.

What do you like about the first version?
And dont say Dynamic Range !
