Yeah, I don't have Record, but now that they're porting all the Record features over to Reason, and making it 64bit, and adding some new units, I think I'll upgrade. I've always liked Reason Just a shame there's still no midi-out or VST support!

I thought that was the whole point...so you could say, "I produced this all in Reason!"

Haha, touche!

Actually, I have a track coming out, which WAS made entirely in Reason 4, and I'm releasing the RNS for a remix competition. Propellerhead Software and Nucleus SoundLab are providing hundreds of $$$ worth of prizes.....

Posted by Inner Sanctum on Jul-12-2011 21:11:

64-bit ReWire with individual outs on every channel. Niiiiiice.

Posted by MSZ on Jul-12-2011 21:22:

still on reason 4 here, all my released tracks were made on it. this looks tempting ;D

About time. Good to see they realized marketing Record as a separate product was a bad choice.

Some nice effects and amalgamation of Record, but it still fails to address what people have been begging them for on the propellerhead forums:

-No midi out (there was a 2600+ post long discussion on their forum from people wanting to use outboard gear with Reason directly)
-No Recycle integration (seriously, that program is way out-dated and overpriced now)
-No new sound sources (sure, thor is great but that was TWO versions ago!!)
-I bet you anything the Factory soundbank is still the same outdated collection of shitty gutless samples.

And WTF is with the whole hipster thing? If I was writing a review for a major magazine I'd be putting Propellerheads in their place about their half-assed releases.

My friend told me today and I was thinking he was bull shitting me!
He called me after getting the e-mail from Propellerhead at 9am.
Reason is still the KING!

If it helps me and my buddy are going to upgrade!

64-bit Rewire is fantastic. Now Ableton needs to get it's ass to 64 too

Posted by UrbanNinja on Jul-13-2011 08:35:

it will allow vst instruments!

Posted by orTofnChiLd on Jul-14-2011 18:10:

Reason 6 will?

Posted by derail on Jul-15-2011 02:03:

If Propellerhead were to entirely redesign Reason to integrate VST instruments, the announcement would be the first thing in the video announcing the new version.

Watch the "introducing Reason 6" video and see if it's the first thing they mention. See if they mention it at all.

Take out the wires and make it a vst instrument in itself and maybe I will consider buying this.

ok ill guess ill wait for reason 7 then.

Posted by itsamemario on Jul-15-2011 13:04:

Propellerhead would make alot more money if they started making plugins instead of Reason, me thinks.

Not so much a bad choice, more a marketing strategy. All the companies do it to generate more money. They could of done all this years ago but, instead they spread it out over different versions and separate products.

Posted by Haak on Jul-17-2011 15:36:

So, I guess Record is dead?
I have the Reason 5 + Record 1.5 duo. The upgrade price will have to be really good for me to upgrade for 3 new effects and 64 bit.

Edit: 99 euro. Not bad. Pulveriser & The Echo look really good. Too bad there's no new synth.

Posted by EddieZilker on Jul-17-2011 15:41:

I'm so happy with Reason 5 that I'm definitely seriously looking into getting the upgrade to Reason 6.

You know you can just ReWire it, right?

Posted by Mise on Jul-18-2011 01:30:

I am having a really good experience using reason 5, though I am still learning and getting used to it. Loving the real rack fell the GUI has. Cool they are adding some new distortions, delays and the Alligator, looks like a more versatile "nexus gate effect".

Vst would never be a choice for Reason, the core idea of the DAW is that you got there all you want to use, working smooth, too much stuff distracts. If you want VSt you can rewire it to ableton.

will buy, finaly they got rid of record, i hated that move.
