For those with 100s of unfinished projects
When was the last time you dug back and looked at what you could salvage for a current production? Who knows, maybe you had one stellar part while the others just didn't get worked out in time?
I just did this, and was pleasantly surprised by some useful ideas that didn't pan out back then that fit very well now.
Give it a shot if you haven't already! If you use Ableton, importing the entire part or clip from another project is easy (I don't know about other DAWs)
i do it everyday! I have my folders broken down as
Album Ideas
Single Ideas
Remixes Official
Remixes Not Official
then if i get a remix offer, i go thru my "Single Ideas" and Remixes Not Official ideas to see if there's anything lying around that might already fit what i have going on
I got to sit down w/ Wolfgang Gartner a few years ago and he told me a big chunk of his ideas are really just past projects, he opens them up and see 's if the two projects act as a "call & response".
Anyways, i'm also in the 100+ ideas boat and I'm sure i'll never finish some of these but when you're out of ideas they are a wonderful "kick start" for something else

Can be a gamebreaker, definitely.
I am struggling to finish everything. Leaving a project half way finished makes me feel shitty.

Now i force myself on every project to collect all & save so if i know the sample, i can search my computer and find the corresponding projects folder. |
