Tracks like what was featured on DJ Tiesto - Magik 1

I'm looking for tracks like Tracks 01, 03, 14, 15, and 16 on Magik 1: First Flight. I understand that it was 1997 but, wasn't Trance a genre before Magik 1 came out? If so, why hasn't anyone mentioned tracks from before 1998 that were QUALITY, like Track 01 on that CD?

I was also thinking about the first Forbidden Paradises mixed by Tiesto (volumes 5-7 or something?!) and the first couple of Freedoms mixed by DJ Dazzle, but after taking a closer look at their tracklistings, they may include more obscure tracks than Magik 1

I have to get those albums that u mentioned...

What about Track 2, Lock-Into the Sun???? That's one of my favorite songs EVER! I would kill for it on vinyl. Who is Lock anyways, anyone know??

Bwahaahahah, I dunno how long u r into trance and if u already listened to trance when this cd came out, but the tracks on this cd are somewhat the basic foundations of what trance became now.

That's right! Anyway, anyone ever heard the Transpotting series? I have 1 and 2. It started in 1997. To me, the CDs have a few tracks that are great (here's the great tracks from number 1: Omniglobe - C'mon Yo!, Astralasia - The Seven Pointed Star, System 7 - Hangar 84, Bypass Unit - Helium)! The rest are OK but, would u consider it Trance? This CD was made in 1997 and I thought that was is what Trance was all about when I got in the Spring of 2000. Since then, I found much better Trance then whatw as on this CD series but, the tracks that I mentioned above are nice!

That's a nice track too! I just forgot to put the number in there (silly me!). I heard that most of the tracks that are on there were old when the CD came out so, when were these tracks individually made??? That makes sense because how did Trance become so complex musical material all of a sudden in 1998? I don't think ANY of these tracks were made in 1997, except for the Voyager track and Lock - Into The Sun in there.

Why do you call them "amateury"? Because you're not used to this type of Trance?

Forbidden Paradise's remixed by Tiesto are volumes 3-7
Best IMO is Deep Forest(Vol 7, 1997) as Valley of Fire(Vol 6, 1996)come close second

Dazzle's First Freedom is more clubbish sounding then freedom 2 which has pure obscure tracks (allthough i think first is much better )

I would call Forbidden Paradise 1, 1994 genre Hardcore as 2,1995 is more housy but it's still hardcore at some point , BTW these albums are not mixed but are in single tracks

Also LOST TREASURES is good series to search for (a bit more progressive then paradises) and Tiesto has done a couple of mix albums for that series also

So it's mostly mid-1997 stuff. Note that there are surprisingly many tracks on Belgian labels, while the rest are more predictably on German and British labels.

BTW, the Lock - Into The Sun vinyl appears to be available second-hand at two shops under Gemm.

And if you want to find more similar tracks, write down the record labels I mentioned above, take a look at http://www.cs.helsinki.fi/u/karhu/junotrance.txt and search for other old vinyl releases from these producers/labels using the 'Find on This Page' option
