What's your experience with the furry fandom?

"Furries" seem to be one of the most universally ridiculed and disliked groups of people in forum-land. But has anyone here actually known any furries in person, or had any contact with the "fandom" other than reading about it and making fun of it?

I've never known any furries, myself.

I think my first GF ended up being a furry for a while.

I hate her so much, but it's unrelated as that was a few years later.

Some of them are probably interesting people who would make good friends but never met one really.
