Cheese Me Up

I need some cheesy tracks - like the sort of "dance music" you hear on Nova and at the average club. It's a long story.

So yeah. If you've heard some dope beatz at a blue light recently, let me know. I'm out of the loop.

Well I'm doing a CD for my mate, so I thought with my own selection of stuff I could put in some recent music he's heard of. And because I don't really pay much attention to commercial dance music (or haven't for the past year or two anyway) I don't know the names of half the stuff I hear.

So yeah, I'm not looking for ABBA or Vengaboys, just more recent stuff that's getting played around a bit, i.e. DJ Sammy - Heaven, Moony - Dove, and things along those lines. I figured you guys have the finger on the pulse, so yeah, if you have any suggestions then let me know.

Just not that Scooter song though, that is fecking cheesy even by cheesy standards..... er, if that makes any sense.

Anything by Fragma, ATB, Darude, et al...

It's all cheese

Posted by Ves on Aug-19-2002 11:02:

I don't know if this song is new, but it sure is cheesy!

Stealth- Love, Life and Happiness

it's the cheesiest thing I've ever heard! It's the perfect example of why I find happy hardcore amusing.

There's also some Atomic Kitten remix somewhere...haven't heard it. I'm only assuming it's cheesy due to the name.

If I think of any other tracks I'll post them.

Since it hasn't been mentioned:

Ian Van Dahl - Castles in the sky

It's cheesy but very cute and sweet sounding, I like it!

There's a happy hardcore version as well by Hixxy, which was played at Utopia at the Superdome in 2001 when Hixxy played there, and got played on radio quite a bit too (CPX 99.9FM Sydney Wednesday nights).

I love sweet euphoric melodic happy hardcore, which could be classified as cheese, but it's high quality cheese! Many happy hardcore tracks fall into that category, like these excellent classics:

A-tension - Angels
Dune - I can't stop raving
Bang! - Shooting star
Sy & Demo - Stay with me
General base - Rhythm & drums
Brisk & trixxy - Eye opener
Scott Brown - Elysium
Scott Brown - Power of love
Orca - 4am
Microwave prince - Need your love

That's basicly all you need....

This may sound like a stupid question, but what's that tune with the female vocals that go:

"I've been waiting...... I'm still waiting!" and so on.

It's been on daytime radio for a while, but never did bother to find out what it's called.....

Posted by DJ_Ballistic on Aug-25-2002 04:28:

i think it might be the new faithless/dido track one step too far

Posted by Philby on Aug-25-2002 05:28:

I made a cd for my sis' 18th a couple of weeks ago but everyone's mentioned all the tracks that were on it! but i put some good ones on too, but it never got played enough for anyone to hear them

Posted by Renegade on Aug-25-2002 05:56:

Yeah, I did the same thing for a female friends 18th a couple of years ago.

I made a couple of CDs of decent club music (mainly house though, so I'm not sure if you guys'd have liked it ) but they (i.e. the girls) just kept repeating track 1: the Fatboy Slim remix of I See You Baby.

Slightly cool track, but it kinda loses its impact after hearing it 30 times in one night. :-/

Posted by Ves on Aug-25-2002 08:28:

I was told to bring my "cool techno" CDs to a party once...but as they weren't very popular, we ended up listening to System of a Down and Slipknot pretty much all night! And a friend of mine is having her 16th birthday party soon and she plans to play happy hardcore!!
...arrrg!!

I quite like the Faithless/Dido track...

Peran (van Dijk) - Good time

I think this quote just about sums up the song:

"Hold onto your hats folks as this cut just screams off into the distance and takes no prisoners on a cheesy commercial trance fest. Using all the most overused and cheesiest samples and loops to bring just so much energy to a track is insane but they have and I guess everybody will be waving their hands like a loon to this down your local. As you'd expect it's straight from The Netherlands school of hard trance with the occasional reminder 'Good Time' sample. Yes it's that cheesy. Just when you thought it couldn't get any cheesier the Cream Team Remix just take the biscuit, LOL"
