Johan Gielen maybe coming to Vancouver

so i was at a boat party on saturday, on the way out i had a short chat with Azim. On the way out he asks me what i think of Johan Gielen....he then said that he was bringing him down for spooky this year. Im sure its unconfirmed but wouldnt that kick ass?

Posted by .montecarlo. on Aug-19-2002 02:12:

that'd be cool, johan's awsome!

Posted by j_spot on Aug-19-2002 09:09:

if spooky is around halloween, I wouldnt be surprised, I think hes playing in edmonton for the Scream party

Posted by exergo on Aug-19-2002 11:47:

yeah but dont tha massive twisted mcraves suck arse......

although that would be wicked...but i dunno, i have heard thgings about the plaza of nations and etc...

Posted by Special_K on Aug-19-2002 20:13:

who cares where its going to be. If the headliners are good thats all that should matter. some of the best partys with teh best DJ's in vancouver have been twisted partys

Posted by sothis on Aug-19-2002 20:56:

twisted 2001 made me not want to come back to a canadian event :/

that wore off of course but it did some damage

Posted by Special_K on Aug-19-2002 23:09:

John'00'Fleming spun one of the best sets i have ever heard in Vancouver at twisted 2001. Every company has weak partys

Posted by sothis on Aug-19-2002 23:27:

it was actually all the people there that ruined it for me (re: rude plaza people).. it was my first time to that venue and even tho the music was good, it made me want to leave very soon in the night because the people were being so mean to me

anyways i know all vancouver people arent like that, hence why i still come up there every city has its sketchy venue

Posted by Special_K on Aug-19-2002 23:43:

ya people wise the plaza can be pretty brutal, when i go im usually in a pretty large group of friends....then its all good.

Posted by jesten on Aug-20-2002 03:41:

I now I have heard of Johan Gielen but is he more of a progressive DJ?

I find that Twisted usually brings the hard DJs.

Posted by Special_K on Aug-20-2002 05:17:

johan is full on uplifting trance, look at his tracklistings in the tracklist area

Posted by dartrance on Aug-20-2002 05:37:

progressive??

far from it...

i would say he is really uplifting.. however he as well mixes the harder trance as well and doesnt just play the epic/melodic stuff

and sometimes he just plays stuff that makes you go "what the hell is this shit" in a good way LOL!!

Ha Ha, ya I have heard of him but never any of his sets. I think Trance in van might get a bit revived after the turnout at Tiesto.

Posted by Special_K on Aug-29-2002 06:50:

well johan is coming for spooky this year...it was announced earlier this week

Posted by jesten on Aug-29-2002 12:41:

Hmmm I would like to go but.........

Posted by j_spot on Aug-29-2002 16:46:

sweet
that increases the chances of seeing him here

Posted by exergo on Aug-29-2002 23:48:

unless i can get tickets for under $30, no way i'm forking out savings to go to a twisted party.....i dunno, but the last "rave" i went to in t.o, i wasnt feeling it, which is unfortuntae..messed up crowd

Posted by Special_K on Aug-31-2002 00:46:

i would expect tickets to start at 35 bux but they might be more.

"Messed up crowd"????? fuck man welcome to the rave scene

go with a group of friends...then its all good

SK is right. A lot of us don't like seeing all the scetched people that you see at every party but they are also the ones who buy tix to every party to support the production companys which in turn keeps parties going on.

If you don't like them then ignore them. And like SK said the more friends you bring the better.

Sounds interesting. I'd consider it depending on what ticket prices are like & what my work load is. I'd probably have to try and meet up with a couple of you if possible?

Posted by exergo on Sep-07-2002 07:46:

its official..i just seen the spooky line-up posted on another site...JOHAN is comin to b.c

now lets see if i can win some tickets...hehe

When will you learn that NOTHING is official in the 'rave' scene till he is up on the decks spinning. Not just Twisted but every promoter.

Posted by JM on Sep-12-2002 04:34:

yeh...johan has vancouver listed on his website under agendas. so i guess its in the planning. well see if this one would work out for me. whey can the lame promoters in seattle bring johan here as well??
