Why do westerners love India?
I don't get it.
It's culturally alien - There is no similarities between western culture and Hindu culture. Westerners love to eat beef, while Hindus think you're eating a sacred animal (in reality a dumb docile lump of shit).
It's impoverished - Lots of westerners seem convinced that it's a future superpower and will one day be something. Don't waste your breath folks, it won't. There are more poor people in India than in the whole of Africa. You cannot even imagine how poor most people in India are and how squalid their cities are.
It's far away - There are lots of far more accessible and more interesting countries that don't have the same retarded cultural differences that the average westerner has no interest in. North Africa or the Caucasus is geographically much closer yet few westerners have any interest in those places. They're also much closer culturally and don't worship cow shit.

I came here for the food joke but Eddie beat me to it :/
I think there is a lot of compatibility between middle and upper-class Indians and their Western counterparts. And as Lira stated, the ties between the two civilizations go back a long way. Also of course there's the British influence, as stated above.
with videos like this, how could you not want to be indian?
look at how happy everyone is.
I for one love it for praise of Ganesha, their elephant god who rides a mouse & falls and bursts into treats he's so goddamed engorged on candies and is beheaded by Shiva and pollutes the Ganges River every festival in honor of him, Ganesha.
xoxo Ganesha
The Kama Sutra!
With advice like, avoiding men with worms in their mouth, how could one not be seduced by its sensual descriptions?
OP: We love India because you touch yourself at night.

I was going to say Goa as well.
my parents are indian and iv been there more times than i can remember, theres nothing i get a kick out of more by having white people ask me where im from and tell me how much they want to go to india lol
i think people are fascinated because its the center of hinduism and a very spritually rich country that doesn't impose ideology as much as other worldviews (tho they still do very much in their own way, you don't see it as much as a foreigner)
hinduism itself is a very open religion and most followers consider it a personal spirituality and lifestyle as opposed to abrahamic religions which seem to be more doctrine based. there is a lot of hindu, muslim, buddhist and secular history there that people love to see, and since india is pretty much the only major hindu country, it has a unique flavor to it.
plus the food is amazing

I only love it because of Goa. And the landscape. And some certain buildings. And their traditional music. And the cuisine. And Chinajeevi(that movie guy). And the history. And the cultural heritage I'd kill for.
Apart from that, it's pretty meh.
India is actually either 5th or 4th dangerous countries for women to live in the world.

Westerners love India? I never get the impression that westerners love India. Perhaps it's more prevalent in Europe?
At least in the US, the "Asian nation everyone loves" award goes to Japan.
