Liquid Drum and Bass

What else you got for me? Liquid, atmospheric, drum and bass with soul please

Rather nice tracks to be fair, particularly the second one.

I can't contribute any (soulful d&b) at the moment as none instantly spring to mind, but I'm sure Ian will jump in at some point with some recommendations.

Seba is good. Download my (literally) new mix that went up today & You'll find some good tracks I think, esp the stuff from lenzman, calibre, electrosoul system/subwave and marky & spy

Very nice thread. A lot of good tunes here.

Unfortunately, i don't have too much time to spent, searching for this kind of DnB

Thanks for the posts.

I've always liked LTJ Bukem's "Journey Inwards" album. Not every song is d'n'b though, but a solid album nonetheless.

I always seem to play these two tracks from that album often.

Other great artist to google are: PFM,Artemis,Alaska,PHD, and Big Bud to name a few.

i didn't know liquid dnb is the subgenre for this type of dnb (organic, soulfull). i used to collect this type of music on vinyl for a brief period like 10 years ago, a lot from good lookin records label.

check out this footage. it would be impossible for a fight to break out in this club. i have almost all of these tunes on vinyl.

i quit this music because the only time i could mix this stuff is when i was high on mdma, it takes an insane amount of focus and precision.

a

Some melodic liquid stuff (never mind the cheesy pics)

Not gonna lie, I do love me some liquid dnb. It seems to help me rediscover the sort of feelings and emotions I used to receive when I was exploring trance and progressive releases. I guess it's no surprise that I tend to dwell on that side of the spectrum, rather than the soulful side. But here are two tracks that I managed to find while I was digging for liquid dnb tunes.

Hey Kev, you heard this one yet?

Technically, LTJ Bukem and Good Looking Records are not classified as Liquid Funk. That sound is considered "Atmospheric" or "Intelligent" Drum & Bass. The key word here is "Funk".

According to Wikipedia...

quote:
Liquid funk is very similar to intelligent drum and bass, but has subtle differences. Liquid funk has stronger influences from soca, latin, disco, jazz, and funk music, while IDB creates a calmer yet more synthetic sound, using smooth synth lines and samples in place of the organic element achieved by use of real instruments.

Have you actually heard any LTJ Bukem or GLR from the last ten years?

Posted by stev on Aug-08-2011 12:39:

yea that description is way off for LTJ Bukem/Good Looking records.

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Aug-08-2011 14:53:

In fairness, Bukem did invent atmospheric and most of his and GLR's most famous tracks are text-book atmospheric: Music, Horizons, Demon's Theme, the whole of Logical Progression. Even when I was a trance kid who knew nothing that didn't involve lasers I'd heard of this legendary Logical Progression compilation.

But yeah, that sound hasn't been representative of either for a long, long time.

Well, this thread made me go look for more stuff. Thought I'd post this one up, it's more on the atmospheric side of things but I think it's absolutely lush.
