New York Trance Addict RIP (now CP listing style wannabe)

yea I said it, and I'll say it again

OD PARTY LISTINGS

shit is mad weak reminds me of the clubplanet days, no personalities, no city oriented threads, all boring blab about what who's going to the next party and where then rant about a club experience followed by support of said club experience follow by announcement of new club opening followed by comments on clubs closing..

whatever happen to
'the walking meet up spot'
'TFST bbq's and house parties'
'gatherings surround non-club events'

none of that shit happens anymore because each and every one of yous is out to claim fame it's like a tired old slut dancing in the same red light window

someone let this shit breathe and dead all these party promo's

Top-right, under the new thread button there's a link for "Hide event threads within this forum"

something that probably shouldve been posted as a sticky when it was first added.

anyhow, anyone who's providing nights for trance followers to come out to is okay in my book. anyone who's anyone in this area doing parties/djing/etc. have been nothing but the nicest people so i see no reason to say it's 'mad weak'. personally, i'm glad there are so many people involved actively on the forums who are throwing parties etc.

not to mention, if you want BBQ's and house parties - why not put something together yourself? while you're not fueling the party promotion fire i dont see you actively contributing to any of the suggestions you've made yet

Posted by EarnYourKeep on Aug-02-2011 20:41:

I've stimulated this section of the board for many years and even within my own personal endeavors which are completely non-music/trance/edm/club related. I've tossed about discussion being locked, closed, I've been suspended multiple times and still yet the lack of character in this section alludes to the 'fake friend' persona. Am I provoking madness to ensue, maybe? Am I not contributing to the music scene with my thread, maybe? Am I saying shit that a lot of people don't care to say, probably...

Fact is this section starts to dwindle with repetition of similarities for a city built as the largest melting pot in the world yet we all tend to act and dress the same part.

Where my radicals at? Where's the degenerates? The problem creators and the problem solvers...this section used to be madness now it's full of kind gestures, fake sentiments, half assed discussions about the fluff that floats just below meat packing district.

Again, someone let this shit breathe and bring that fresh air in here...afterall, maybe that's what I'm achieving now before you question me, ask yourself those same questions.

How is promoting your endeavors any different than someone throwing a party?

^ This you will have to ask the individuals themselves... people move on, stop posting, things change. It's a part of life.

These do still occur but they are not posted on the boards. Best way to find out about them is to go out and socialize.

Posted by xpand3r on Aug-03-2011 00:43:

I'm sorry to disappoint you but I'm sure many like myself doesn't post about things that members do together. I have gone out with some of the TA members here and we haven't really thought of doing roll calls for every event or get together.

It might also because bulletin boards/forums aren't what they used to be in general. I remember many bulletin boards I used to frequent back in high school/college would be very active with random threads. It now seems like people mostly use facebook/twitter to socialize and cell phones/texting has become more common.

It's just a change that I think you need to get used to. You can't really expect that everything will be like the old days. I'm sure there are many people that can say that the get togethers, threads you experienced back in the day is nothing compared to what they did before your time.

I think there is still good discussion here but facebook and the like are better for the stuff you miss. Not 2002 anymore.

Don't blame the promoters, blame facebook.

Yup. That is why I deleted my facebook. I hate how everyone relies on it for their main way of communicating rather than picking up a phone. I rather stay out of the loop than be apart of it.

I hate how everyone relies on the internet for their main way to communicate instead of sending a telegram. Who needs friends anyway. Get off my lawn.

Ppl on rhythmism complain of the same thing, how the board is not the same and there are only like 10 ppl left posting there. They also blame Facebook.

Like it or not, Facebook has changed the way people connect and stay in touch with each other. I, for one, love it, keeps me in touch with family, friends from all over the world, share pics, videos, etc and talk to people I haven't seen in years at any time. Times change, and with it technology too, get with the program. Resisting change and bitching about it doesn't help you, just makes you an old person set in his ways and stuck in time. People still meet up, only meetings are not arranged in the same way as 10 years ago. Reach out to people instead of coming here being bitter about how it will never be like the "good old days", it's gotten old, move with the times.

I agree with Excess. The ones who started out as clubbers in the 90s/early 2000's have grown up. Some of us do something in the industry, and some of us got married and had kids or just don't have time for this shit and are busy with being adults. Right now in NY there is a great scene and more talent than ever, everyone wants to be a part of it and contribute to it. You could be in the middle of nowhere with no scene. Be thankful.

If you don't like the event postings here, just ignore them. Like I do with threads about your 'endeavors' that I don't really care about, but don't go in your thread and shit all over it.
