My new hero: the mayor of Vilnius, Lithuania

I visited this city in 2007... really cool place off the beaten path. Anyway, their mayor, Arturas Zuokas, got so sick of the hundreds of complaints pouring into his office weekly about pretentious people illegally parking their Rolls Royces, Mercedes and other luxury cars around the downtown area, he decided to make an example-- by riding in a tank as it drove over one of them:

Every moment of this 'terrifying' ordeal was captured on film and as the tanks gigantic wheels crushed the roof off the car like a twig, a wry smile crept across Mr Zuokas' the face.

Ok, so dressed in a sharp suit, the 43-year-old didn't really fit the bill of 'crazed mayor' but nonetheless he proved a point - albeit in a rather violent way - to drivers of luxury cars who park illegally on the streets of Vilnius.

The money shot moment is when the 'owner' of the car dressed in a pimp-esque white blazer and gold chain comes out and confronts Mayor Zuokas, with... wait for it... a friendly handshake.

Here's the video of it... and it's just as awesome as I was hoping (including the cheesy background techno music).

The only thing is, the roller pictured probably costs around 500.000eur and the old s-class that the went over about 500euro...so kudos, but he should have driven oven the roller instead, now that would have been epic!

Also, if i was in charge where i live, i would use this tactic to get the striking truckers off the road when they threaten to block off one of the busiest border crossings between slovenia and austria due because they arent allowed to clog the roads during the high traffic time on weekends. But noooo, apparently thats not appropriate now that were in the EU, it could only be done back in the old "barbaric" socialst yugoslavia days

Say what you want about certain types of government, but they can get shit done if they feel like it.

ha... true. my company just had a product licensed in Kuwait in less than 2 weeks because the govt decided they liked it and wanted it. Same process here in the US took 10 months of red tape.

Haha... hey my woman is 100% pure Russian, not one of the native asian "-stan" people. She was part of the leftover faction from the USSR days which is thinning out more and more in that region. I love that tall, long legged Eastern European look

Bananas, I didn't know you were from Vilnius... lol weird. Yeah I spent about 4 days there- stayed in an apartment in Old Town. Loved it. Went to that castle at Trakai too... really cool. Only thing that sucked was not being provided grocery bags after buying food at the market... had to carry a bunch of loose items like 6 blocks. But god damn were the women fine.

Yeah, you have to buy bags at the till here (well, "there", since i'm currently in england). Glad you liked it. The Old Town and the women are the main attractions
