Seth MacFarlane is producing a follow-up to Carl Sagan's 'Cosmos'

It will star Neil De-Grasse Tyson and the team behind Cosmos, including Carl Sagan's widow, Ann Druyan.

I can't wait for this. I love Neil deGrasse Tyson. Interesting that it will be on primetime television; I hope it doesn't turn out to be a lofty, pseudosciency show like Through the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman.

This could actually turn out to be preety good. A good science show from the us would be nice for a change, currently the only thing i watch are BBC documentaries and they rarely have more than 3 episodes per series.

I love Neil, and seeing how a meeting with Sagan was the reason he went into astrophysics he really is the proper man for the narrating job. If brian Cox could make a cameo somewhere in there, that would just be science geek orgasm.

Of course not, I saw this coming when I posted it but couldn't be arsed to go back and explain it. What I mean is that it won't turn into a pseudoscientific god-thumping show like Through the Wormhole because all the people involved don't have any intention to go that way.

Ever since they came up with those horrible billboards that said "You KNOW it's a MYTH" and David Silverman came up on Bill O'Reilly's show saying that churches are filled with closeted atheists, it became quite clear that American Atheists are real fucking idiots. They are only reinforcing people's prejudices against atheists instead of changing them.

Do they know anything, or they jjust believe 'facts' from a source you take tto be more reliable? I often rage against lay scientists and don't want to get into it again, but most atheists don't know shit about science, merely believing in conclusions scientists tell them are true. That's not much different from the religiosi who are also fed 'truths' which they themselves dont verify because they have it on good authority its been verified... science is the new religion, Nietzsche said it and it hasn't changed...

What's funny is when Brian (who is Seth McFarlane in character form) gets owned for being a huge douche. The scene where Quagmire calls him out is hilarious.

So at least McFarlane, even with the elitism, knows he doesn't know everything.

The lawsuit is a dicking move u think, but that quote of his, that they are honouring the all pwoerful god, that coudnt be bothered tostop 3000 people being killed in his name instead what he did was to make a cross out of two pieces of rubble...that was spot on.



Anyway, anyone catch Tyson on Bill Mahers show last night? When he started going on science he coudnt be stopped. A passion for science like that in the public is much needed.

In a sense, it definitely sounds true. However, that doesn't give anyone the right to censor those who may have similar (albeit different) beliefs and expectations about God.

I'm pretty miilitant in my disbelief, but I agree AA is a bit overzealous. Their presuppositions are absurd and push open-minded theists away from secularism. Lucky for the rest of us American Atheists aren't the only sizeable freethought organization around. eg The Council for Secular Humanism, Center for Inquiry, Freedom from Religion Foundation, etc.

How is Christopher Hitchens doing btw?

This is precisely why I hate postmodernism with a passion: It can make rather intelligent people with degrees in Philosophy say some very stupid things while they are under the impression that they are uttering some of the wisest things ever conceived. Why this argument that science is "the new religion" succeeds so much amongst intelligent people really baffles me.
