theres electic boutique - revelation (ferry corsten mix), where there's a preacher speaking....quality tune...all time classic...but I don't think it's cos ferry is religious...just cos it's a cool sample

Somehow I doubt that many DJ's are into religion.

Although Marco V did this nice song about Godd....

I just don't understand one sentence in this song:

Do you believe in a god that satisfies,
do you believe in a god that tells you lies,
do you believe in a god that opens eyes,
or do you believe in me?

Do you believe in a god that brings you down,
do you believe in a god that makes you bow,
do you believe in a god that "wears the ground"!?
I don't think this is it

Marco V said in an interview that he doesn't take religion seriously and thats why he made the song 'Godd'

I'm not a huge Marco V. fan, but I loved Godd because it sums up my view of dance music.

I'm not religious at all, and I completely dug on how Marco used the lyrics to say, "Hey, do you want to buy into a religion that says everything you do is shite, that you're a sinner, that you need to do x on day y, blah, blah, blah, or do you want to come out on the dance floor and get lost in the ecstasy of the music with me?"

Music *is* one of my big spiritual escapes, IMHO nothing is better than the euphoria of a huge song climaxing with the lasers going and everyone on the floor losing it...being at one with the other people out there.

I've never gotten anything *remotely* close to that from religion, *any* religion.

To be fair though, I don't think a religious person would say that that was the point of religion. Either you believe it's there or you don't, you don't believe in God to get kicks.

Or maybe you do. Who knows what goes on in these people's heads?

Posted by CortexBomb on Aug-20-2002 16:43:

Well, I could easily equate the euphoria of the dance floor to the big religious revival things where everyone is all essentially getting jazzed up on God...hey, whatever floats your boat I guess...I'll stick with Trance though

I mean, you talk to a lot of religious people, and a lot of them bring up the purpose that it gives their life, the community that they're a part of, how good it feels to know that God loves them and so on...to me that doesn't sound much different than the reasons why humans join *any* community...for acceptance, love, and sometimes for purpose.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, sums up the electronic music scene's view of religion.
