Has anyone played Star Ocean: The Second Story (Original Playstation)?

Great, GREAT RPG IMO.

I'm thinking of picking up a used copy to play again.

Dont let PKC hear you, or youll never hear the end of it on how JRPGS suck ass

I looked on Amazon for a copy, super expensive! WTF

Good old games usually are. I picked up a copy years ago when stores were getting rid of their old PSX stuff to make room for the brand new PS2. I think the most expensive PSX game at the time cost less that 3 euro. Picked up around 60 titles in about 2 months time, 3/4 of them are still untouched Did the same when PS2 was on the way out.

And seeing as how the game is so old and if youre just looking to play and not add to the collection, and buying the PSP remake would be just silly, there are "other" options...not many would bitch about them for a 12 year old title.

the one thing i remember about this game was that tried to beat it 3 times but gave up because of glitches. damn thing would keep freezing at key points.

I always thought the worst thing about star ocean was the 9000 hour intro.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think PKC's hate for JRPGs stems from the turn-based style of a traditional JRPG.

Star Ocean is not turn-based combat, and as such, is not a traditional JRPG. It's battle sequences are real-time combat.

Ya I can't stand turn based RPGs anymore. Chrono Trigger was cool but that's about it.

I also really like Tales of Vesperia, great fighting system!

I still play final fantasy and the likes, buts thats only because i play them on the phone. Playing a game like this with a controller on the tv or even a computer holds no fun for me anymore. Note, this only applies to the games with the final fantasy like battle system, tactical rpgs like...well final fantasy tactics are still ok.

Im enjoying the combat in the Summon Night: Swordcraft story games for the GBA (similar to the 16bit Tales titles. JRPGs with real time combat im ok with.
