8/31/11: taking SFEDM down indefinitely. keeping up the quality and thouroughness of events was getting too time consuming for a one man operation. might be back in a different form one day. thanks for the support.

I saw that when I came back from lunch today....just about ruined my afternoon.

This was such a GREAT resource for many of us, especially in the weeks leading up to an event like LE or to help plan a random night in the distant future in SF.

This makes me sad.

Posted by jonmitz on Aug-31-2011 22:45:

It was the only resource for me in the past... i dont know.. 8-10 months? I dont know what I am going to do now. I guess the SF thread isnt too bad on here, but it can be hard to find lots of events...

Posted by Mhubert420 on Aug-31-2011 23:27:

Im gonna make a new one.. any name or URL suggestions?

edit: does anyone have the contact info for the person who runs it? I'd like to take over and keep this site running for the Bay Area EDM scene!

Posted by MR STROKE on Aug-31-2011 23:43:

wtf

I assume it was a money pit?

Easiest way would be to open another SF events page here that anyone can edit
or
maybe a Google Docs page?

Rafaaaaaaaaaaaaal!!!!!

Posted by DaveT on Sep-01-2011 02:51:

time to rejuvenate the calendar on here.

Posted by 72hrpartyanimal on Sep-01-2011 03:00:

the great thing about sfedm was Rafal. He was very unbiased and posted every event was associated with EDM. I'm glad he stuck with it for so long. Shits tough to keep up when you're not getting paid to do it.

I warned you all somewhere on here....
I was hoping someone would pick it up and start helping him.

Posted by jonmitz on Sep-01-2011 05:34:

I woulda helped him out, as would others. oh well...

Posted by josbalstr on Sep-01-2011 05:55:

damn, seriously was a go-to for a lot of people...

The ads didn't make enough money for him to keep going?

I know so many people that used that site.

Posted by 72hrpartyanimal on Sep-01-2011 06:03:

i think Rafal just got busy. I know he met this dude and they're dating now

hehehehe

This was one of the best things about the site. Also, for those of us that don't live in the City, we were able to find out about places off the beaten path....like Roe, et al.

Posted by jashic on Sep-01-2011 15:55:

he should have given access to each major venue to post their own events and then handled the off the beaten path items himself. that way he can keep it up while having limited time.

Also, I would imagine promoters would be willing to pay a few dollars to post an event.

...maybe I'm missing something but you can post events here too you know

It was much better on that website than it is here. A lot easier and quicker to read. Easy links to buy tickets or find out more.

Very minimial. Posts on TA tend to have 20 pictures, 5 shitty videos, 10 different font sizes and colors, broken links, and promoters that never come back.

Posted by jonmitz on Sep-01-2011 21:58:

Hey what do you know, the website is back up O_O

The SF events thread was created ny R!CH... he's semi-retired.... and the SFEDM site was created by Rafal... Both are my bros and I think they're BOTH kida over the extra work.... (we're talkin full-time job status)... everyone retires someday...

Good point!

Whether they spent 10 mins or 10 hours on them, both were/are awesome resources to have, so I thank them for keeping the sites managed as well as they were.

Yeah, the last thing I want to do after a long day is update a site.

In fact, searching for SF events is how I found this board in the 1st place...so thanks again for that R!CH.

If sfedm goes back down, I think more of us would go out and find events to post...at least I know I will.

...and retirement? I am in the twilight of my "career" at the moment, so I am even more choosy about music, events, spaces, etc.
