Name some house classics

Hi, everybody. I like all kinds of EDM, but I don't know much about house. I know someone who had some really fine house records, though. They were said to be New York- and Chicago-inspired, from the 1980s. Does anyone know any records like that from that era? I'd like to acquire some. Thanks.

Pretty cool. Thanks for your help. Do you or anyone else know who originally created the song where they say "Let there be house." There's also some REALLY cool song with a siren that makes it sound like the police are about to raid the club. You can actually hear them speaking as if they are on their way in. lol

Second one sounds like Revolution 909 by Daft Punk.

It's not them. This was way before that. But I just listened to Revolution 909, and it's the same concept.

lots of old school hard house that uses the police raid samples. I'm pretty sure was used one in a song that jon the dentist made a remix of. but nothing prior to '96 that I know of... started looking on youtube but the jon the dentist remix of lectrolux "the house is surrounded" by was unavailable.

Samples were used in many titles over the years, so if it's the one you found it pretty quick.
