i really liked that they properly dissed deadmau5 and guetta in that article.

Tiesto got big and stayed big without the need for gimmicks or any radio hits.

After "Kaleidoscope," I can't agree with that. I think that album was targeted at radio. He worked with Nelly Furtado. "Escape Me" is very pop. I've heard "Feel It In My Bones" on pop radio a lot. I'm not trying to slander the man. Just an objective opinion.

Tiesto didn't do any gimmicks, but to say he didn't try to appeal to a larger audience, specifically popular radio is just being ignorant.

We can all make assumptions on what we think his intentions were based on the sounds... but it's impossible to say that the album was targeted at radio. When talking about the album he always mentions that he simply wanted to make tracks with his favourite artists and create an album based on those influences. Yes, "Feel It In My Bones" did get a lot of radio play, and Escape Me sounded quite poppy as well... but the album also had tracks like "Century", "Here on Earth" and "I Am Strong" which didn't really sound like mainstream radio tracks to me...

I think he was just trying to make tracks that fit the style of all his vocalists rather than trying to create something with mass appeal like everyone seems to blame him for. I mean look at his recent productions like the Allure album or Maximal Crazy... pretty far from radio friendly in North America.

Either way, I'm pretty excited to hear what his 2012 album will sound like, seeing how much his sound has changed since even the Kaleidoscope days.

I liked Tiesto. Like in 2000... Even though I don't like his new stuff, he at least earned where he is today. Cool article! Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber can suck it.
