clockwork orange
why is this movie considered so incredible?
The soundtrack was done entirely on a Casiotone XK432HQi SBRS (Super Bass Reflex Simulator).
shut up zilker. i know where you live.
I honestly think the movie is stupid as shit. I remember when I first saw it in high school with a bunch of friends, this really angsty emo chick had been all "OMGGGGG WE JUST HAVE TO WATCH IT, IT WILL CHANGE YOU GUYS' LIVES!~~~"
We all made fun of her after seeing it.

i WANT this limited, rare, underground, hipster, 10 units made in the world casiotone you speak of! i will murder you for it!
my college roommate was obsessed with it. i watched it with him and didn't get it. i'll have to watch it again before i make another judgment on it though. i remember it being annoying.
but wendy carlos is fucking sweet
better than jim jarmusch though.
'the limits of control'
I liked it. It's fucking long and drawn out though.
ya, first time i watched it i was just annoyed. watched it again today, annoyed me even worse after only 10 or so minutes. *waits for some hipster to say "DUDE THAT'S WHY IT'S ART, IT'S SO UNCOMFORTABLE TO WATCH. YOU. JUST. DON'T. GET. THE. ART."
A Clockwork Orange is to fucked up people what Star Wars is to geeks. If youre a geek, you "get" why star wars is awesome even if normal peope dont. Likewise, if youve had your head bashed in with a tire iron you get A Clockwork orange.

No time for the ol' in out love, just came to check the meter.
It's based on what comes around goes around and the freedom of choice even if it's about the freedom to do evil. The question is does he go back to his evil ways at the end or not. Looks as if he might...

The book is even more fucked up. Pretty good read though.
For a movie made in the early 70's i think it pushed a lot of boundaries. Watching it 40yrs later of course it would lose it's appeal.

I was halfway through writing a massive post explaining what science fiction is and whether Star Wars qualifies, then I realised it was Lira and there was no fucking point.
I think it was a good movie, i havent seen it in a while. It was defniatley avant-garde for its time. I'm definatley a big fan of kubrick's movies and this was one of them.
If you don't find an appreciation for the non-norm of movies, i suggest you also avoid fellini films.

| Originally posted by tubularbills This is true. However, the idea of the movie (based on the novel) is the idea of what is considered "evil" or not. there are two meanings behind this: 1) is it "Evil" for a society to FORCE someone to be a good citizen? 2) what is considered "Evil?" the premise behind the book was the idea of free choice or not. is it better to be a good person on your own (and have the free will to choose to do so) or ; have the gov't force people to be good citizens (thru "therapy"). very thought provoking, if your attention span is more than today's twit's is. |
