R.I.P. Russian Hockey Team

The CHL is a league of several ex-Soviet countries. Prime Minister Vladimir Putin immediately sent his transport minister to the site of the crash, 15 kilometres east of Yaroslavl. Former NHLers on the team roster include Pavol Demitra and Ruslan Salei and the coach in Canadian Brad McCrimmon. But it was not known whether they were on board the plane. McCrimmon, 52, is a native of Saskatchewan. He played defence for six NHL teams -- Boston, Philadelphia, Calgary, Detroit, Hartford and Phoenix from 1979-80 to 1996-97. He played 1,222 regular season games in the NHL, collecting 81 goals, 322 assists and 1,416 penalty minutes. McCrimmon was an assistant coach with the New York Islanders, Calgary Flames, Atlanta Thrashers and Detroit Red Wings. He also served as head coach of the Western Hockey League's Saskatoon Blades. The short- and medium-range Yak-42 has been in service since 1980 and dozens are still in service with Russian and other airlines. In June, another Russian passenger jet crashed in the northwestern city of Petrozavodsk, killing 47 people. The crash of that Tu-134 plane has been blamed on pilot error. President Dmitry Medvedev has announced plans to take aging Soviet-built planes out of service starting next year.

So when are tryouts for the open positions...I think I may stand a chance at making the team.

Soviet Russia has no franchises. Only stateowned team to win the big cup!

i miss words, this is so tragic to say the least, i'll miss Stefan Liv insanely much upon following him for so many years now, my thoughts go to them all

that can't skate, especially backwards. I'd like you to play in our league for just one game for fun. Our 4th liners love english guys that can't skate out of the way.

This crash was bound to happen. Apparently they still use soviet built planes many times (shit like everything else they built). When Brad Richards played over there during the last NHL strike, he bailed on his contract because he refused to travel on the team plane citing safety issues.

A few decent players went down today, pretty sad stuff. I used to like Pavol Demitra when he was in his prime.

I am actually an excellent backwards skater (played goal for 12 years or so)

and I'm a pretty decent skater as well, i just have hands made out of stone so I can't do anything once i get the puck.

Although, admittedly the video I posted was hilarious, I think it's important to point out that it was my second time as forward, skating with forward skates after 12 years of goalie skates takes some getting used to. And stick handling? jesus I duno wtf to do still (i'm much better, but still a lower tier player on my E division hockey team, but i am once of the fastest. B)),

The only reason i cannot see Jay playing hockey is this:

Speaking of bibimbab, have you ever been to Kagopa on St - Jaque and Cavendish? My favorite place to eat. Great Kalbi-tang and Dubu - tchikay.

Yeah, its ok, but the Korean food is pretty awful in this town. I don't need jerseys, I have enough and would never wear them in public.
