out with the old in with the new- need to start going out solo.

So last week I hit two parties with 2 friends and damn was it lame- it was nothing against them personally but it seems when I roll with people that just dont feel the music as much as I do I spend more time dealing with bitching then partying. I really am going to have start rolling solo to these spots since once Im in these clubs Im usually on my own little adventure anyway- smh. The older you get the less friends you realize you have lol at least ones who dig this kind of scene. Any true solo warriors out there that can really vouch for it and getting home in one piece.

used to party alone all the time......u come and go as u please, and do what u want....of course i always knew people at the parties, but mostly, i just didnt want any witnesses to the dirt i did!

i usually go solo unless I have friends in town. my friends just dont dig electronica as much as me - or they're all hardcore dubsteppers..

wouldnt mind meeting other TA'ers tho!

My superpower is always getting home safe and making sure friends to to

Posted by euphoria on Sep-09-2011 17:01:

Partying with fellow TA's is def better than going solo, but if need be... do what you must

Tell me about it, I usually always end up talking to at least one or two cool people at these spots since generally most fans of this music are pretty cool. I am always down to meet new heads and combine our superparty powers.

That is true- I am trying more and more to just do things solo if need be, since life can really pass you by when trying to work around other peoples schedule.

Posted by SebG on Sep-09-2011 17:21:

I usually go alone and meet up with TA's there and other people.

My schedule:

1. Have 1-2 drinks at home.
2. Leave apartment.
3. Drink more.
4. Party/Dance.
5. Leave club at or near end of night.
6. Re-enter apartment.

Anyone else who can not go along with the above schedule is not rollin with me that night. I dont have time for bullshit (ie: the chick that wants to take from 8pm-12am to get ready....B*tch, if it takes you that long, you probably dont look any better after 4 hours, anyways!)

Posted by edubbz on Sep-09-2011 17:36:

dudeee...you've been saying this for the longest!!!!! i've even participated in those convos lol

and again, I, too, like to go to the parties alone- of course, I always end up bumping into ppl i know there- but I don't have to worry about the person i came with bc if it's something that REALLY ticks me off is that the person i came with isn't enjoying the music as much as i am..therefore, making me feel uncomfortable which results in me not being able to enjoy the party as i please...i have a friend who is constantly asking me to take her!! and i wouldn't mind but I'm just sure she won't keep up with me and stay till closing (which is normally how late i stay at an event)..so, to avoid having to leave early, bc of her, or baby her making sure shes having a good time...i just prefer to not bring her at all

frcukkkk that, nothing is taking me out of my element!!

in closing: don't talk the talk, walk the walk

LOL!!!

I don't even bother asking anybody from my area anymore if they want to come because of bad experiences with them. Somebody either starts whinining about the music, starts whining about dancing, starts whining about alcohol prices, gets too drunk and gets kicked out etc etc

I just want to have fun, dance and have a good time, drama free...

Thats the best way/excuse to meet new ppl. and i haate having to appease those i came with. I ended up having to leave dumonde/lange EARLYYY cuz some friend got tired. Omggg i still FUMEE to this day!!!

Other than that, Id go solo or with Drew and then meet ppl AT the venues. Thats how i ended up meeting all the TAs and my peeps from Roxy :

I've always been an advocate for flying solo. You can go wherever you want without having to try to convince anyone to join you, you can arrive when you want, leave when you want and with whoever you want; and if you want to afterparty, you can do that too. I've been going out alone pretty much for 10+ years and it's the only way to go for me. Plus I've been going out for so long, I always see ppl I know anyway. Getting home for me is never a problem since I live in Manhattan A little self-control with your party favours helps, know your limit and you'll make it home ok.

Let me know whenever you decide to come out alone, save my number to your phone instead of trying to pull it out of your TA PMs every time you're out

HappyHappy

The reason why it's hard to make friends (especially when you get older) is most people are afraid to talk... or just make polite casual convo (or just totally obliterated out of there minds and can't handle a coherent convo). I have been to events and just randomly said something to someone and they looked at me with the expression "who are you and what do you want from me?" and that mentality can be quite demotivating and there are other times when I can meet the coolest person ever and end up really good friends with them.

Most New Yorkers are rude, admittedly myself sometimes too when I am in a bitchy mood. They likely have been wronged by one of these "fake" friendly clubbers and are now extremely cautious (and probably for good reason), however I still enjoy walking up to random people and introducing myself and more often than not they don't look at me like I am crazy. Trying is the only way to find out

You all speak the gospel- I learned my lesson from the last time I went out and aside from maybe curbing the drinking/partying to be more on point sounds like a good time.

LIKEWISE....

this way i'm in control of when i went to leave and what not....

I may go out solo...but i don't leave the club solo

easier to pick up sluts when you go solo

couldn't agree more. I used to have my own group in the twilo days and enjoyed some of the best club nights of my life with them, but since then I've been flying solo and loving it. here and there I'll go with a friend or 2 but I've been aware of the disadvantages of going with many pple a while ago. I also get to focus on & take in the music more when I go alone. I wouldn't have it any other way..I meet pple in the club also but I can't converse well in loud environments so I avoid lol.

I live in NJ and always go solo from here. I usually meet up with some people in the city and end up crashing at their place if the night was a rough one haha. I always have a backup place though just in case. I love solo adventures.

This is exactly my scenario, I also live in jersey and usually would crash at my friends place so this was always a huge factor on me going out most of the times. If I'm rolling solo I'll just have to have some backup plans.

Oh dude, there were many instances when i was driving back and i was so mentally and physically tired that was going nuts. Once it took me 4 tries to get out of china town to holland tunnel. I was seriously going crazy with a big brain fart.

Now I try to take a train as much as possible.

I have always been a solo warrior, I go to the club with my friends, split up, find new to "random cool" people to chill with, its like an adventure. Of course I swing by my buddys to chill a bit but for the most part im solo. This also depends on the vibe, if the club is filled with vibeless idiots then I just stay with my friends

Posted by xpand3r on Sep-10-2011 02:25:

I have gone to a party solo once and ended up leaving early so It's not something that I usually do. I do have few friends that enjoy the type of techno/house I like so I got no problem there.

But I know we seem to go to into many similar parties. Hit me up next time we're at the same club. But it's definitely better to do it solo if you really enjoy the dj/music rather then going out with people that can't stand the music.

Posted by Neonbeats on Sep-10-2011 02:59:

thank god my gf likes the same music as me and can hang with me. I'd go solo tho and then you eventually meet cool people to rage with. Solo can be fun though.

Posted by lounger540 on Sep-10-2011 03:18:

Haha, if my friends wanted to leave a party before me I'd show them to the exit and wish them a goodnight.

I think the nice thing about rolling up solo and meeting people is there isn't this expectation of companionship. A lot of people, and I've been guilty of this, latch onto their group usually because they're too afraid or anxious to graze the dance floor alone. But when you meet up instead you can just roam around and chill with your friends you see when you want to and then disappear into the darkness with out having to tell everyone your plans.

Just fucking do it. If you see me we can bullshit, though I've been out half as much lately that will probably start changing in a month or so.

Oh, and on the getting home thing, just plan on getting a cab and keep enough wits about you. You never really want to be black out drunk where people can take advantage of you. We used to do that shit in college but then you start losing wallets, forgetting you lent people money or worse end up jumped. Know your limits / dosages
