''Best'' hardware synth for PsyTrance/Trance
Hi guys! I need advice from people with experience in psytrance production about the ''best'' synth for psytrance production. I must mention a already own a Virus TI,Tetra and an Evolver.
So, I was thinking of a Nord Lead, a Slim Phatty, Blofeld or Oberheim OB 12, even a Nord Wave, though it's kind of expensive... I don't know which will fit better? GIve me ur opinions and thanks a lot!!
(about the Nord Lead...I understand that the 2 sounds grittier than 2x, but it looks like it's got some bugs plus no lfo syncing, so is it worth it over the 2x?)
kind of depends on what you're looking to do that you can't already do with the hardware you already have, I would imagine. I can't tell you either way, but if anyone here can then they'd have an easier time with that information.
Casio easyplay
If u cant do alone with a TI u are having problems! There is no real rules w psy i think other then the generic drum bassline. The rest is up to you random sounds acid lines tonns of fx and bam psy away comes down to creativity. If u after help achieving a particular part of psy be more specific i think. But all the best as i love psy trance (-:
Why are you asking the same questions you just asked two days ago?

o_O
I'd say you're good to go with the best hw synth for psy since you already have a virus ti. A lot of psy producers back in the day had nord leads and Roland sh-101s tho.
I agree with energy above. The TI should do everything you need, in fact it's probably the machine I would suggest if you didn't already have it. Is there a reason why that isn't working for you?
Personally, if you're looking at a Nord, I'd chose the Lead 3 over the 1 or 2 because the interface is much easier to program on. The rotary leds really help. Plus it's got some nice FM type capabilities, perfect for added squelch. I haven't even considered the Wave, partly because the 3 does everything I need it to and I don't want to go back to the non-led interface.
That said, I would also consider the Electribe EMX-1. I know that's not the first machine people think of, and it certainly wasn't one I was considering until I actually sat down and used it. It's actually decent for psy sounds, plus it's got one of the most intuitive hardware sequencers available.
lol 'best'
this a prickish reply, granted, but 'best'? processing and sound design on the synth is more important. maybe asking what synth comes with the most factory presets / sound banks available that are suited to a particular genre, but yeah..i'm sure you could make any of those work for you just fine

boo hoo the basslines sucked yah lyar
who said that? musta been an old lady.
I should have put a donk on it.
Myself, I like the Roland JP-8000 & Yamaha XS8, but you'd have to shell out quite a lot of money for those. (;

Virus TI 2 or DSi Prophet.
/thread
Why do I get the feeling your more of a gear head than a producer.
You don't need anything more than a Virus TI, which you already have.
it's so versatile. Pads, basses, plucks, chords you name it.
Stop searching for more synths, and start with getting to know your synths better.
At the least bit, mess around with the stock presets.
Tinker w/ the type of oscillators / matrix modulation / type of filters / unison / pan spread / change this change that and see what it does to the sound.
I recently discovered that there's some Boot Camp tutorials on the Access website.
Check em out, really awesome:
