Promoting for a club
ok.. let say your a promoter for a club in a town which you know trance isn't implanted yet... and you wanna be the first to offer this genre to the people...
Let say your in charge of club/lounge...
little dance floor, couches, terrace. so there's alcohol !
What would you do to bring the people into your club ?
What kind of trance would you ask the DJ to play ?
By the way its possible that it happens for me...
so... a little help on getting ideas would be appreciated.
If I had unlimited funds I'd hire somebody like Armin van Buuren or Ferry Corsten to make a big splash and lure people in. It would have to be someone who plays "softer" melodic trance, as that tends to be more 'listenable' to people not already into the genre..
if i knew this answer, i would not be sharing this information. Im greedy like that. Im trying to open a club later in life actually.
id say alot of vocal tracks, also softer stuff because its more of a lounge type thing
give away free beer! that'll attract loads of people! or get a guest appearence from a celebrity.
have free addmitance for the first couple of nights, that'll get people in, then once they're in u need to convince them to stay in. create a friendly environment with the staff then involve the customers in conversations or whatever. make sure the stuff that is being played is stuff that people know, but at the same time try not to play the same stuff as every other pub and club in the area as people get sick of hearing the same songs!!
thanks for your advices...
I'll try to think of a conceptthat will bring people in regarding to your tips

The key is advertising. One of my mates recently set up a night at my local club called GUM (Genuine Underground Music). He spent a lot of time giving out flyers and sticks of gum as their gimmick. It is now very successful and is moving to a bigger club as it has outgrown the club it started out at.
