Anyone going to Paul Van Dyk and Paul Oakenfold in chicago on 10/28?

I saw them last time they were in town, it was pretty good, although Van Dyk should have had the headlining set, cause Oakie played some OLD stuff. I like nostalgia as much as the next guy when it comes to my trance beats, but mix it in with newer beats. His whole set was old tracks. Hoping PVD is the headliner this time around. Decent show though, any chicago ta's going?

17+ party gives me great pause.

How are the parties at the congress? Seems like 17+ would suck pretty hard.

u might see some glowsticks, but as far as cuddle puddles, if there are, they are upstairs in the seats....

just looking too, a 4 pack of GA tickets total $90 which would make it $22.50 per ticket. Pretty good deal if you ask me. Wondering if they are having a hard time selling tickets that this deal is even out there.

as far as the 17 and older goes, I will probably be one of the oldest people in there but you don't see PVD or big name trance guys like Van Buuren playing a 21 and over spot like Vision very much anymore. I saw Above and Beyond at Vision a couple years back, fantastic vibe with the legal drinking age crowd. Saw them last year at HOB for a 17 and over show, totally different feel to that crowd, I felt almost too old to be there, lol...well not too old...but a little too old to be hanging out in da club.

at Vision, u see plenty of 35+ type people...even some 60's! im older also, but i still love the trance

I would go... and I still might... depends on funds cuz my lady wants to see Laidback Luke the next day.

It's probably 17+ because most people of age remember when these people were actually relevant and played respectable music.

A friend of mine who is a dj also give me a free tix so I won't say no

Yep, I will be there. Last time I saw PvD was in 2006 when I met up with a few TA people. Amazing night and hopefully this will be awesome also.

PVD has been on fire this year, so much so that I plan on smashing my previous record of 10 shows in one year to 15 shows this year. I have the 12th and 13th planned and booked, still gotta worry about two more.

yea buddy, that is why I am going, in my 30's (I will leave it at that) ....and PVD just brings it. Seen him at least 15 times and he just brings it, incredible sets of music EVERY single time. I cannot say that about some other DJ's. July 27, 2002 the Paul Van Dyk show at the Riviera here in chicago is still the best set of music I have ever witnessed by anyone hands down. Trance was at its peak in popularity from '98 to'02 and there was just excellent beats everywhere. If anyone remembers that show, you will know what I am talkin bout, lol, the a/c was broke in the riv and it was hot as fuck. I Can't wait for this Friday night....R3hab and PVD are gonna tear it up. Here's to hoping Oakie shows up on time and is not the headliner by being late again.

pvd was pure madness in 2002, anyhow, please let me know how paul is tonight in Chicago, i just landed in Puerto rico and I look forward to his set tomorrow night.

1. Why did Oakenfold play for so long? PvD was on for a little over an hour.
2. Oakenfold's mixing was terrible. Was he wasted?
3. Who was that musical singer that came on? I could have done without that.
4. Did PvD play a dubstep song? As soon as it went on, all the hands in the air went down.
5. Were there power issues? Twice during PvD, the entire stage went off.

Overall I had a blast. It wasn't too crowded and didn't feel like a zoo.

1. actually they both played for an hour and a half. Oakie was on from 11 to 1230 and Paul Van Dyk from 1230 till 2am. It was funny cause Oakenfold's last song was over at 1226. And then that mc (who talked wayyyy too much by the way) got on the mic and said they still had 4 minutes, so obviously pvd wasnt playing early.
2. I was completely sober last night, and I thought that was the best Oakenfold has sounded in at least 3 years mixing wise. He made a couple mistakes, but I have seen him trainwreck many times in my day, and I thought last night he was pretty "on" for Oakie.
3. The singer was some guy named Michael SanFillippo. WTF he was doing out there, I have no idea, that was as gay as it gets.
4. Not sure if that was dubstep, it definitely sounded like it was, and yeah, he lost everyone in there for the minute he had the tune on.
5. Yeah, I noticed the 2 power issues during his set. My only guess, is that he runs a lot of stuff on his show, and maybe the combination of all blew a fuse or something, lol...

Very good show, in your video, I was standing right behind you on that same side. Great vibe in there, not too many douchebags. I thought R3hab, Oakie, and PVD all threw down excellent sets...but that cronie mc was fucking pissing me off during R3hab's set, no need for all that mic work. It was definitely a good good time!

i am disgusted with the track selections for both djs. i was expecting more trance/progressive from pvd, and oakey always has to put some mainstream hip hop bullshit in his mixes. RHCP and that other stupid song you hear on the radio all the time? come on oakey!! pvd did the same shit with 2 non-EDM songs.

i only listen to EDM and hearing any other music in a dj's set is my biggest pet peeve and really irritates me! btw r3hab sucked a fat one too. my night was ruined.

haha.... you thought you'd get quality trance/progressive at the Congress?

Time to look at what Vision has to offer with their lineup.

with oakey, no. but pvd, yes. i miss his musical works from the early 00's. i havent been to vision in a minute, but have been there more than any other club. looking fwd to some upcoming vision trips.
