Question How to connect a mouse to a Macbook Pro??

When i put my notebook on a table, I prefer to use a mouse instead of a trackpad.. but how do you connect a mouse to a Macbook Pro?

I mean, normally you have a USB port at the right side near the back where you connect your mouse.. I believe even the Macbook Air has this right?.. but what about the Macbook Pro.. it doesn't seem to have a usb port at the right so how do you connect a mouse then??

Wanted to know this before buying one.. thanks!

Get a wireless mouse? Then you can use whichever USB port you want (I'm assuming that the Macbook Pro does, indeed, have other USB ports?)

wireless mouse would indeed be an option but to be honnest i am not a big fan of them cause you never know when the batteries will need to be replaced..

can't you simply connect a wired usb mouse to it?! As far as i can see on the mac site all usb connections are on the LEFT side.. not a good place to connect a mouse, right?

Also it's on the left.

If all the USB ports are on the left, how do you connect a mouse to it? Normally a mouse is connected to the RIGHT side, not?!

Am I overlooking something??

All the wireless mice that I've owned have had a "low battery" light on top, which flashes for a few days before the battery runs out. Plenty of time to notice, and you can always just carry a spare battery in your laptop bag.

Just wrap the mouse wire around the back? It's on the left because the majority of people use a wireless mouse these days. You should write Apple a letter about it though. Lord knows they are known for their design flaws, and I'm sure your concern over the location of the Macbook Pro's USB ports would be #1 on their priority list right now.

does there magic mouse warn you when you need to replace batteries?

an obvious problem with wireless mouses is the extra weight from the batteries.

so if you want to connect a wired mouse, how do you do it? Connecting it to the left doesn't seem very practical for a mouse.

You can absolutely remove the usb ports from the left and move them to the right. All you need to do is drill a few holes in the case and rearrange some hardware and voila.

You have a bad back or something? Two AA batteries hardly weigh much

I doubt it would weigh much more than the mouse cord, which you wouldn't be carrying around

Contact Apple tech support and ask how to move the USB ports from the left to the right side. It's a fairly simple procedure. They should be able to walk you through it over the phone.

U.S. iPod, Mac and iPad technical support:
(800) APL-CARE (800-275-2273)

Seriously, it shouldn't be any more complicated than that.

How would it be possible for a customer to change the usb ports from left to right.. i mean that's changing the design of the motherboard etc.. i don't see how tech support could help with that??

Also, is it really so that most people nowadays use wireless mouses?

lol

No it's because most people are left handed these days.

Posted by jupiterone on Oct-09-2011 01:03:

shut up. i don't want to load a cd on the left side of the computer just because you're too cool for where the usb is now. wrap the cable around like a man, you woman.

Teach yourself to be left handed imo
