Massive fine in Denmark’s first ever ‘sampling’ copyright case
I came across this article today and thought some of you may find this an interesting read...

This is quite a hefty fine, in my opinion.
Although sampling in this instance is illegal, I can't help but feel some sympathy for Djuma Soundsystem.

What I'm curious about is how they will handle the people that sampled Les Djinns...There's a track on Toolroom that uses the same sample, and some lame ripoff that I think was called Les DJ Inns or something.
Itll be interesting to see how the appeal turns out now they have a lawyer on board. It does look like they guy sueing plucked a number out of his arse and the judge just accepted it. I'm sure theres more to it than that though.
They knew full well what they were doing at the time. I don't feel bad for them at all. They were probably better off keeping their mouths shut and hoping the dude who made the original never found out. I mean if you are gonna steal and then lie may as well go all the way lol
Denmark sucks and should burn. It's a well known fact. 1.1 mil NOK for 10 sec clip. Makes perfect sense.
damn... i used to like that track, glad to find the original source of the sample in any case.
take note all you 'ethnic' tech house weiners
To be honest, I didn't realise it was a sample until I read this.

It has a lot to do with nef's lifelong vendetta to avenge all BLAXX.
Couldn't you say something along the lines of.... be careful ANYONE who samples EVER?
No, gotta only be those "ETHNIC" samples.
I used to like LES DJINNS too, I DON'T ANYMORE THOUGH.
I'VE GROWN BEYOND IT.

Actually I'd say ethnic tech thieves have much less to worry about. African flutesmen probably don't have the same legal representation as Led Zeppelin.
You should only sample amish people cuz they got no internets

kinda lame
everything comes from something...even that original song was most likely inspired by something else that sounded just like if not exactly like it

Nicolas Jaar album is being pulled from shops Due to an uncleared sample on one of the tracks, Jaar’s album ‘Space Is Only Noise’ is to be removed from stores.
