Arrow "were moving away from commercial crap to more dubby dance floor material" - Ian Van

Ian Van Dahl released a statement the other day.

"were moving away from commercial crap to more dubby dance floor material" - Ian Van Dahl

You can tell by listening to thier new stuff, IE:

Ian Van Dahl - Tomorrow
Oxygen - Am I On Your Mind (Ian Van Dahl Remix)
Conjure One - Sleep (Ian Van Dahl Remix)

What are your views on this?

Well he's a belgian guy, I know 99% of the people here just dont know any better.
When I see him I will tell him to read my thread

well ian van dahl has certainly made a lot of money from his commercial stuff and i guess he wants to succeed in the less commercial stuff. Worth a try i guess.

As many of you know I enjoy melodic stuff that all of you label "cheese."

However, I can't stand Ian van Dahl, except for the Wippenberg mix of Castles in the Sky!

It's....

Heheh, I love that pic.

Worm Popper

yall crack me up!....

Posted by tranceDJ on Aug-24-2002 02:45:

He can do it but it'll be hard considering Ian van Dahl is enstilled in most of our minds as 'cheese' and our opinions of new material are probably going to be biased towards the cheese side.

Usually artists will go from underground to commercial, not the other way since by going underground the theory is that they will then be making less money.

My opinion

If he makes some really nice dubbed out progressive tunes it might work if ur gonna go away from teh cheese go in a a big way show us what u can do.

I'm listening to Conjure One - Sleep (Ian Van Dahl Remix) right now and I must say it's pretty good, not cheesy at all.

I heard Ian Van Dahl - Tomorrow a while ago and it's not as commercial as the other stuff. I don't like Tomorrow much, but I think it has to grow on me.

Haven't heard the last one yet. (Oxygen - Am I On Your Mind (Ian Van Dahl Remix))

Is it the guy who is also responsable for Lasgo and Milk Inc ?

Those kind of projects give belgian trance a bad name

Posted by Strike on Aug-24-2002 16:03:

hmm
i haven't heard any of these
but if it's ian van dahl
it's bound to be played on the radio sooner or later

The people who scoff at this and say IvD will always be cheese because that's how he started out need to remember the people involved were not always producing pop-trance ala Castles In The Sky. The main talent behind the project is Christophe Chantzis -- think back three years to 1999 now -- anyone remember DJ Tiesto's Theme From Norefjell? What about the DJ Jan & Christophe Chantzis Mix? There's a good example of what he can do. I'm not necessarily defending IvD but we need to remember that Chantzis used to be respected in the trance scene and I don't see why he can't do it again.

What about Ian Van Dahl - Try? That tunes pretty good and not cheesy imo. Give him another chance, hes been doing good shit lately.
