Dave King - Indian Summer [Drum & Bass]

Its been really mild here in London for this time of year with loads of sunshine. Lots of very pretty days where the low sun and browning leaves combine to give quite a unique vibe. For some reason it always makes me think of drum and bass (dont ask, I dont know) hence the following mix. It starts with floaty jazzy stuff and meanders up and down in places, but its not too intense (think more marky than dillinja). No space left on the soundcloud so youre gonna have to do the oldschool right click on the image and save as for this one.

Die & Break - Slow Down is

Really love the jazzy and liquid stuff in the beginning, not as much into the darker later parts...

Listening now, Dave, posting my thoughts as I go. Good tracks and some good mixing, but you seem to be going all over the place flow-wise: jazzy track, techy track, spacey track... no real cohesion at all. Also, the Die & Break track is distorting and then the mix into Discovery is just a bit messy, even though it's beatmatched fine. Getting a strong impression this was done on the fly without any pre-planning, and you perhaps don't have a particularly deep crate of drum 'n bass, hence the wonkiness.

Flow picks up in the second half, although the ending seems a little abrupt, like you ran out of tunes. Overall an enjoyable listen but it did feel very hasty. I'd to hear you deliver a more carefully crafted dnb set in the future.

LOL, guilty as charged. I did just kind of decide I wanted to mix some drum and bass, bought some drum and bass and then tried to stick it all together.

I would like to spend more time digging around for dnb, it just finding the time hehe. Cheers for finding some to listen tho dude

Nice mix, mate. I enjoyed the energy, but I felt like some deeper digging could have been done, and I agree with Jack on the cohesion of the set. The music had me bouncing the whole time, which is always a plus, but by the last few tracks I felt like I wanted a little bit more oomph. Good work though. Did you ever see my psydnb mix that I posted last year? Might wanna put your ears to that if you're interested.
