Please recommend me a prog set that is better than J00F's 2010 Essential Mix
J00F 2010 Essential Mix is one of the best progressive mixes I've ever heard. Can anyone recommend me material that is even better? Has to be dark and aggressive, make you want to take drugs and go nuts. No fluff please.
i recommend every mix from DJ Ryan.

John 00 Fleming's essential mix is fantastic! To be honest, genres confuse me, to me I thought this was a progressive and psytrance set.
I don't know if you're into progressive house, but John Digweed's essential mix from 2007 at the warehouse project is one of my favorite sets. It's definitely a lot different than Fleming's in style (not trancey at all) but it's really great. John Digweed is a master of set progression... he builds and builds and suddenly you're sucked into the vortex.

| Originally posted by SYSTEM-J Well, that's the thing. The set is great because it develops. If he'd just kept to the prog and not gone above 132bpm it would have got a little boring by the end of two hours. I don't think you'll find what you're looking for by just asking for prog sets. |

I think that pulsing middle bass and punchy kick drum sound that I'm describing is an attribute common to psytrance so I'm going to go with that describer for now. I've been trying to find some of the tracks from J00F's 2010 EM and none of them were released on vinyl or cd that I saw except for the Shiloh. Is there some kind of issue where producers in this genre dont care or dont have the means to release on vinyl or cd? I can't even find an entry for Iono Recordings in discogs yet there's a few of them in the set which is almost 2 years old now. I mean, I've seen some EM's where the music inside wasnt available until 6 months or a year later, but this set in terms of not being able to find jack squat in physical format (not even a CD?) is beyond anything I've ever come across. |
