Read This! Review: Thriller/Halloween @ Guvernment 2011 [Now with VIDEOS]

Thought I'd start it.

HUGE! Amazing sets & vibe.
Ferry = set of the night in the Koolhaus
Chus & Ceballos = set of the night in the Guv mainroom.

Honestly though, everyone killed it, but what a way to end it all. C&C destroyed it. Pics & vids will eventually be posted by me.

Ferry's set had no flow and he didn't seem to have control over the crowd. I was pretty disappointed. He was taking the energy up and down wayyyyyy too often and I found alot of people were standing around instead of dancing because of it.

Marco V and Simon Patterson were both INCREDIBLE.

Chus & Ceballos take set of the night for me, by far.

Posted by Dinoz2013 on Oct-30-2011 19:31:

I think he got his more "mainstream" stuff out of the way early, before getting a bit more deeper, slightly more Electro. Not as "Proggy" as I was expecting but the Crowd seemed to enjoy every Song he played. He played some bangers for sure though. So I guess he knows he can get away with playing his commercial songs in Toronto.

Simon Patterson had more "Trance NRG" when he played for sure, crowd didn't die down too much whe he started.

Guv Room was good for Marciano/James, if a little to "PoP" for me. Chus & Cellabos Killed it for sure, while I was there. THEY KNOW WHAT IS WHAT!!

While in Guv, I seen a group of Bouncers walk past be then I SAW FERRY!! Right before the smoking Area. Gave him a Pat on the BAck!!! YEA!!

All in All pretty good night. Decent costumes, Lego Man, Alex from Clockwork, Hot Chicks in Hot Chick outfits. Good Stuff.

LOL Everyone I've talked to either loved or hated Ferry's set. I thought it was great!! Actually one of my favourite sets of his that I've seen. It reminded me a lot of old Ferry. Not uplifting trance, it was harder, and more on the electro side of things. Plus he's the most adorable DJ on the planet, that always helps! Love seeing that smile....

I also loved Marco V. His set had so much energy!! It was my first time seeing him (I know, crazy), and I really liked his sound. His track selection had a bit of a rock edge to it. It was really easy to dance to. I loved that he was playing a remix of the "Halloween" movie theme song when I walked in. Perfect start to the night.

I got tired early, and left before C&C unfortunately. I'm sure they were great as always.

Best costumes for me were def. the Lego people. So good!

Does anyone know who won the contest??? I didn't bother venturing in to Guv. I can't handle the crowd in there anymore. Stayed in Kool Haus while I was there, and had room to dance the entire time

It was a great night at Guv! I'm glad I sucked it up and made my return.

you're so smart! lol

My ears took quite the beating last night. What's up with the terrible sound setup in KH? It was so loud and the levels were ridiculously high I could barely make out the lyrics during Mark's and Marco V's sets. It got better during Ferry's set.

The latter parts of both Marco V's and Ferry's sets were great. Chus & Ceballos, set of the night of course. They truly are masters of tribal house and know how to work that main room sound system. Perfection! I just wish I had the energy to stay until close. Great seeing a bunch of familiar faces. Happy Halloween!!

great night out

Mark was ok...sound problems during his set and he played Dubstepish briefly (looking forward to his closing but that didn't happen ).

Marco V was incredible...simply killed that room. Hard from the get go which was nice cuz I thought he may have gone soft in the few years since i saw him last.

Ferry...not the best i've heard but fun regardless.

Simon Patterson....best set out of the 4 times I've heard him this year. Relentless bass.

C&C - best of the night easily. I was wearing cowboy boots and my toes were mish mash by this point so I could only listen rather than dance. I wish they had the speakers on in the back portion of the guv patio.

No energy to make it to zone...tried to go home and sleep and come back but once I hit my bed...that was it.

I went into this expecting amazingness from Marco V and Ferry, especially having seen them go back to back in Ibiza.

Marco V is still NOTHING like he used to be, his set was good but still meh

Ferry of all the 15-20 times I have seen him, this was probably the worst set, did not excite me one bit minus the Minack, Brute and his Take Me track that Peter posted!

Simon was amazing!!

Thank god there was room to dance though

Thanx!!!

Yeah Peter... it's kinda hard when your friend lives on the 20th floor and you're running late to the party

Entered Guv to Mark Oliver dropping some dark progressive track which I was enjoying quite a bit, but Khaus was way too loud for my liking! The track right after the progressive one was dubstep. I was like WTF! Before things got any worse I made my way to gallery. Lol! Ovi M was on and he was playing some great tracks.

I second that! Gallery was banging, specially Joee Cons set!

I caught a bit of Marco V's set which sounded good. I couldn't stick around Khaus for too long though. I wasn't feeling the vibe in that room at all.

Main room saved the night for me. I was expecting a more main stream sound from Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano. But, it turned out to be decent big room music, which was bearable.

Chus and Ceballos put on quite the show! It was unlike what I've seen of them previously in Toronto. Techy stuff throughout most of what I caught. Not much tribal this time around. They kept their set interesting with the classics (I guess their own techy edits) they played every now and then. Of what I remember I heard edits of 'Grindhouse', 'I Get Deep', 'Proper Education' and 'What The Fuck'. Left the guv at 6:00, it was pretty packed even then, but I didn't have much left in me to go any longer. Zone was completely out of the question for me.

What time did C&C go till? And how was the vibe later through the morning?

C&C were amazing 
