A Swedish techno icon talks about the power of the dance floor. Joel Mull is just one of a number of Swedish producers that helped make a name for the Stockholm scene in the mid-'90s. Cutting his teeth alongside artists like Adam Beyer and Cari Lekebusch, Mull defined a percussive sound that was distinct to his homeland. With legendary venue The Docklands providing a space for their music to get a proper airing, the Swedish capital was one of the most important outposts of four to the floor music outside of usual suspects like Detroit, Chicago and Berlin. As we found out last month in Berlin, Mull's belief in the power of electronic music to transport hasn't been dulled a bit since his early days in the scene. In fact, it might be even stronger in 2011 than ever before. |
