Kaskade Interview in EM

http://emusician.com/interviews/profile/kaskade/

Kaskade interview discussing the tools used in his new album "Fire & Ice" - excellent album IMO.

just an awful interview. I mean in my opinion an awful artist so not sure what i was expecting. I think the interview was conflated. I like interviews with specific questions. On this track , you have this vocal sound. What chain up to the mic was used ? he just drops a bunch of names of plugins I guess i'm supposed to buy. But nexus ? i mean that is pathetic. Talking about how he is in this sweet studio , so like that fat sound , thats like a modded shadowhill unit with a modded vintage helios which is then bounced to tape. Oh and Nexus. lol. Honestly, the fact that someone would not lie about that is somewhat more wrong than using it and not mentioning it.

He doesn't mention why he uses stuff. Just name dropping. And that is a shit interview. Too short. No detail. And then a shitty video with too many guys wearing toques. Thats how you know the session ain't killing. No heat. If I was the producer, i was tell all those fuck heads to ditch the headware because when I run shit, well shit gets hot. My thermostat is a black drummer named Lokat.

And that girl was like sticking the microphone in her mouth. Easy generic singer I could replace in 10 minutes, that aint no cock.

Wrong answer. Kaskade is the only thing in EDM worth listening to. He's god.

As for the interview, well, I don't ever have high expectations for anything from EM. I agree that the questions/answers could have been directed much better, but it's still interesting to see what he used on the album. As for Nexus, (a) it's just a tool and (b) it gets used by a lot of well-known producers. TBH I'm more surprised by the fact that he is just now starting to use it. I kinda assumed that he's been using it for years.

I actually think Nexus can be good if you use it right.

Kaskade knows how to through a block party, I'll give ya that.

I think he's an okay artist, I don't enjoy listening to his music, but I enjoy dancing to it, which I guess is the point of EDM anyways.

And yea, I'd like if they had him talk about how he used the different plug ins rather than all his Nexus bundles.

It never ceases to amaze me what a pretentious fuckwit you are.

Nexus is pretty handy, especially when you want a quick sound to use as a layer underneath a better sound. using one of Nexus's lead presets under a lead that you've "made" yourself in another synth for example....

it's all my opinion of course.....

i am in no way pretentious. And could you at least insult me properly. I mean you say shit like this every time. Surprise me or something. You are quite uninspiring. I would actually respect a good ass whooping.

...or, when you just want a preset, or want to easily tweak something. Yeah, Nexus is just a ROMpler and is pretty limited relative to synths, but it's much more flexible than most people give it credit for. If the user knows anything about sound design and is familiar with a mod matrix, he can easily tweak the presets into completely new sounds. Regardless, at the end of the day, it's just another tool, blah, blah, blah...

Kaskade is the shit.

how the fuck can anyone defend Kascade. Pure euro cheese junk. If Bieber were to make a dance album, it would be Kaskade + bieber saying baby. He is an awful producer that makes shitty vocal trance for idiots that don't know any better. it is trance for 12 year old girls.

Posted by tehlord on Nov-07-2011 21:05:

I quite liked the first half of Strobelight Seduction.

Then again I don't know any better.

Say what you want about Kaskade, but dissing Bieber is crossing the line. The boy is pure genius.

Strobelight Seduction (the album that "I Remember" is on) is a great place to start - very similar vibe throughout. His earlier stuff is more Chicago house influenced and chill (e.g., the OM Records stuff) and his more recent releases (e.g., Dynasty, Fire & Ice) is more commercial dance/house/trance blend. His side project is Late Night Alumni, which is more downtempo/chillout stuff featuring Becky Jean Williams, who also sings on several Kaskade songs.

you're obviously not part of his target audience, but he clearly has one.. I don't see why you have to insult every single one of them simply because they enjoy music that you don't. I'd think someone who's been involved with music as long as you would have figured this out by now.

and I'm not a huge fan of nexus, but what's the big deal? there's a lot of ubiquitous sounds in trance that can be used to just layer a track and establish a certain sound, not every sample in every single track has to be groundbreaking and unique. sometimes you need something simple, I don't see how it makes much of a difference creating your own patch if what you need is already right there.

People use pianos in their tracks. Fucking unoriginal retards, they should be designing their own sounds or building their own instruments. The piano sounds awesome but what a disgrace to use it. Don't even get me started on the guitar and drums!

Posted by Looney4Clooney on Nov-08-2011 09:11:

unlike instruments that are timeless, mexus 2 has a shelf expiry of 3 months. And since all dance music is when you think about it is production as there is nothing else novel about it, well using tools like that is just fucking lazy and should be lambasted. It is embarrassing. IF you are going to make generic music, go make Gomez pop or something. YOu might actually make money. THat is what I don't get. You guys are not making any money yet still feel the need to rob your work of any artistic integrity. So you aren't making money, you aren't doing anything worth doing, what the fuck are you doing ?
