any place in toronto that regularly plays chillout or ambient music?

a true lounge. not a house music lounge. house music has too many of them BPMs.

anyone know of any?

[shameless plug ]
NV lounge in Guelph. I regularly play downtempo trip hop/chillout stuff for the first hour or so [/shameless plug ]

If people would actually dig it at the lounges I play at, my opening sets would be all chill-out mixes :/

i think i heard Brian Eno played in an elevator one time.

if i ever get over to Guelph i'll pm you feelgood, way too far right now.

seriously? nothing?

honestly man I have no idea. people who advertise playing a night of "chill-out, deep house, and house" have openings sets that are just 118 bpm deep house sets, lol

hopefully another TA'er helps you out

I also wish that Toronto would have a kind of chillout lounge. Something focused on electronic, with occasional live performances from chillout/ downtempo artists, a bit Cafe Del Mar-ish, although not dead head music, not dark and trippy, mabye like a chilled-out beat and more light and summer afterparty-ish. (Sunday afternoon chillout parties would be a must, that would not attract a pretentious crowd and not a sketchy crowd either) Unfortunately venues that cater to this style of music in Toronto and really Canada seem to be non-existent or extremely seasonal one off events.

ya, been to those. not so regular those are. can't walk in on a friday night to their venue (they don't have one) and groove or zone out. also, attendace is usually around 20 people tops.

ambient ping did host Robert Rich and the event was held in a church. really nice.

rearrange a few words and suddenly you shrink 3 feet and turn green.

Toika sometimes has some events with BPMS around 118 -125.. decent crowd when I've been there

There's no money in chillout music. You don't go out to chill.

I for one would like to have more chill-out/ambient/obscure electronic music nights in this city. I would also like a steady supply of mushrooms to accompany said nights.

I would like to hear this guy live. That would be sweet.

Vishnu is a serious sonic pimp!

Or this guy:

Or the people who did the sound design on the Lord of the Rings. That would be sooooooo crazy. Imagine seeing that on a flyer!!! EXCLUSIVE LIVE CINEMATIC TECHNO EXTENDED SET!!! ... With live Masaai accompaniment...
