Review: Chronologic @ the Boat, Kensington
I have to write a review about this, because it was one of the most unique parties I've been to.
It all began with a random convo with Veronica which turned into let's go to this retro party on Sat. Cool, why not do something new?
There was a huge ass lineup at 940. Was at capacity by just after 10 (it's a small restaurant). Walked up the stairs to hear classic music being played. Deffo weird, but I think it's 'club hits' from every decade starting from 1900. So as the day went on, the music progressed along, and gradually switched to swing/jazz from 30/40s, then to 50s and so on. By the time classic hits from 80s and 90s came on, I was on full sing a long mode. Because nobody can resist singing to Madonna or Ace of Base. A lot of songs I haven't heard in a long time.
The crowd was really friendly and everyone was dancing from the start. Drinks were cheap. I think 2 bucks for domestic beers.
I left when the music turned into too much modern crappy hiphop/top40 junk. But I had a wonderful time with friends (lots of TAs for this one) and it was fun to do something different on a Sat night instead of typical EDM clubbing. Will deffo go back again.
PS: If you do want to go to this, go there by 930.

What an incredible and fresh night out! LOVE the concept behind this party! Music from 1890 to present in chronological order. I just wish they spent more time on the earliest music as opposed to music in the 2nd half of the 20th Century and beyond. When MIA - Paper Planes came on I knew it was time to leave lol. The fact that there was a massive line at 9:30 when the place didn't even open till 10 says a lot. People were dancing as soon as it opened which I've never seen at a club before. Very interested in hitting up more of these parties but I think they're only once every 6 months.

Great night, can't really add much to what Yohan and Kotsy said, definitely something different and worth checking out if you haven't before. Thanks to Graham for spreading the word.
/ I think my beers (Amsterdam) were around $4?
I had two 50s and it was 4 bucks?
Been to these Chronologic parties many times too! But just a note it's only on once a month.
