What Essential Mix is long overdue?
Although the EM last night was good, I'm tired of seeing the same big names championing the mix week-in/week-out. Here's some of the Dj's I think are due for a E-mix:
Ferry Corsten
Armin Van Buuren
Scot Project
Marco V
Eddie Haliwell
Dumonde
Cosmic Gate
Maybe we can draft a list and flood the Radio 1 website so we can get some fresh E-mixes going.
Dj Giotto
I would agree with all those u posted aswell.
an armin essential mix would almost sound the same as his 2nd hour of a state of trance i think. but would still be sweet....
i want dj jean to do an essential mix
LOL
This is what the E-mix schedule looks like for the next month.
01/09/02
X-Press 2
08/09/02
Tim Deluxe debut
22/09/02
International Special: Rui Da Silva
22/09/02
Dirty Vegas
29/09/02
Essential Mix Tour at Shingdig, Newcastle: Pete Tong & Erick Morillo
Surprise, Surprise once again we get Mr. Tong. He did 2 for the month of AUG!!!!!
Eddie Halliwell will probably pop up on the EM soon, since he's such an upcoming dj + he's signed with Jules' label.Armin might be there as well, since he's making such a big name for himself in the UK.Marco V might be popping in too, seeing as Fergie and a lot of other UK djs are caning his tunes right now.The rest:dream on.The fact that Pete Tong has a legion of house headz listening to the EM,and that most of the hardtrancers listed haven't established themselves for real in the UK yet(despite some appereances at Gatecrasher),means that hardtrancers like Dumonde,Cosmic Gate,Giotto DJ and Scot P will never set a foot within the EM-Studio.(I hope I'm wrong, believe me).Ferry's uplifting trance-style will probably never get any credit in the UK,as trance didn't get that popular over there until the progressive-influences came along. But then again,if he keeps making these different, bangin' tunes like Needlejuice or Punk, this might change.Let's hope so,as this will give him the chance to play a lot more new tunes, than what he usually does in those short sets, where we've heard like 90% of the tunes before.
lol no offence but i find it quite amusing some1 from Norway saying what is and what was big in UK

I think we've had our trance E-mix for with Oakey. Won't be another trance one for a long time.
But I think Ferry Corsten might get one as he has been a great DJ for a long time. Mind you, when tiesto played, he span some prog house at the begining (prolly to please tong).
Jeff Mills
Sander Kleinenberg (needs another one)
Cass (by himself)
The fact is that all these 'house' heads who tune in, well Radio 1 is losing thousands of listeners cos of Pete Tongs show and his slow boring attitude & it's time for something for the future, and that means introducing trance like Armin, Ferry, Scot Project, Giotto, Push, Above & Beyond, Marco V, Johan Gielen etc
After all its the youth of today who're gonna be listening in the next 5-10 years so give us what we want
Sand Leaper's right
im as much of a hardtrance fan as anyone else but no way in hell will u see the likes of dumonde, cosmic gate, scot p, giotto etc on the radio 1 decks
as im sure u can see by the schedule most of the djs that play there are quite progressive style with the closest your coming to 'hard' stuff prolly being the likes of fergie.
that said, marco v has been making himself big in the uk, with residencies at Room At The Top et al.
edit: oh and my opinion.. id like to hear sasha do another emix or hybrid.
Sander Kleinenberg
Dave Seaman
Scott Bond
BT should do a live PA on E-Mix
Satoshi Tomiie; perhaps Matt Hardwick again
Satoshi for sure
and Max Graham. he is long over due for an e-mix
How about Faithless or Way out West?
I would love to hear anything live from them.
Yeh i reckon Ferry Corsten, Push, Armin, and Scot Project need a go!!!
Realistically i can't see Scot Project and Dumonde getting an E-Mix... it's like ID&T getting LTJ Bukem and MC Conrad to come in and do a mix - it just wont happen. I would love to see Nick Warren in for another mix, then Jody Wisternoff would be sick.. who has heard his set from Clubspace Housesessions (party 931)??? That was awesome! Others would be Max Graham and Satoshii (as mentioned before) just because they are mindblowing, Max Graham especially. LTJ Bukem would be nice again... the last EM he did was back in 1996, and his style has changed sooo much since then. It'd be sick to hear a recent set of his.
Ciao
Pointy
sander kleinenberg again
and satoshi tomiie
I know this is a trance website but I'm not even directing this towards why there are so few trance e-mixes. The E-mix seems to be losing it's originality.
Do you realize that the Chemical Bros haven't done an e-mix since 97'
Junior Sanchez; Robbie Riveria; Sean Cusick; John Creamer & Stephane K; D:Fuse are deserving of an E-mix. However when it comes to Americans if your not Roger Sanchez or David Morales your not going to get an E-mix.
No Danny Tenaglia since 94' I find this odd since he was last years DJ of the year.
Here's a little E-mix trivia since 1993 when Pete Tong took over the E-mix he has done 76 E-mixes. The next 2 highest are Carl Cox 35 & Oakenfold 30.
Yoji Biohazardwotsit and johan gielen for an EM. But it is never gonna happen as radio 1 is run by monkeys and they nothing about the dance music industry as it stands. I mean they had a radio show slot free earlier this year and who did they put in Fergie - the guy with the same records as fudge jules. If it was me running the station I would have filled that spare slot with J00F!
