A question from a noob

Hi there folks,

i like trance. A lot. And i like to know a bit about the tracks i hear in sets and meet in compilations. On of those tracks is Excessive Life by Hunter and Lauks. A track that appears on Tunnel Trance Force Volume 16 disc 2. And that's the only information i can find about this particular track. Not even discogs has more information... can anyone help me out in this quest for knowledge or is my search in vain? And am i uberhaupt posting this in the right forum section? Thanx in advance!

EDIT: small typo.

That's where you made your mistake

What is my mistake exactly? Did i state a far too obvious fact? Could you be more specific? And on topic do you know anything more about this track?
Forgive me if i'm kicking in open doors a hundred at a time...

Your mistake is that you like trance

Uh, what exactly do you need to know that Discogs doesn't tell you?

Posted by TeiOhmKhan on Nov-12-2011 22:20:

When looking under Hunter and Lauks, i see only one release namely 'Shades of Blue'. Except for TTF16, there is no reference to the track Excessive life.
Could you post the link to where you find more info? Thx already!

Addition: my main issue is that when something appears on a compilation (which i assume the TTF-series is) i'd expect there to be a seperate release of this track on vinyl for example. And it's that info that i'd like to find. Where was it originally released? Stuff like that.

That's not always the case. Producers very often make tracks exclusively for compilations that never get released as singles. In psy trance, for instance, it is actually the norm for producers to make tracks just for compilations, and single releases are an exception to this norm. This is a trend that can be traced back to DJs playing DAT tapes in the early goa days, as vinyl would melt in the areas the parties were held.

Going by the info on Discogs about this tune, it's a fair assumption to make that it was made exclusively for that edition of TTF, especially seeing as Hunter clearly has been involved with Tunnel-producers such as Gollum and X-Dream on other releases.

Stop being a dick.

^+1. Pointless trolling.

But it's routine for many regulars who for some reason need to announce how superior they feel to trance listeners.

Thank you, Sand Leaper. That does clarify things!

bah you guys are no fun

But anyway I realized the track the OP was referring to is like 10 years old so it's my bad

Posted by TeiOhmKhan on Nov-13-2011 13:55:

When i consider that many of my favorite tracks are quickly reaching that age or have already passed it, i feel like i am getting old (or should i say wise?). But when i play them ... all those feelings just wash away.
