Do you prefer the sounds of hard hitting beats or melodic, uplifting vocals?

Both, although in combination with hard beats I like short, not so beautiful vocals often more. Often those beautiful long vocals don't match with harder tracks IMO.

For instance this to me is too much, although the vocals sound awesome in the chillout version. I prefer something in between:
