just something i noticed...

not that I really care...but why are the "Events" at Viva listed...and the other events that are going on aren't? It doesn't really affect me in any way, but I'm just curious...cuz Viva isn't the only place hosting parties. Eg. Marco is listed at the top of the forum and Summers End@Guvernment isn't... (which will be infinitly better than [email protected] course, I'm expecting Marco to be awesome too) Is trancEaddict.com the official VIVA ass-kisser?

anywho...just thought I'd ask...

Posted by Trancewave on Aug-26-2002 03:04:

yeah I notice that too. I think the organizers got in touch with Swamps and he's helping promote the events. The Viva website has a link to TA as well. Only Swampy can answer this question though.

KarateKid

i'm betting it's beacuse swamper dont have time always.. he is the head honcheau and has to take care of the entire site.. and it takes him a while to get to it.. and he is the only mod for TORonto..

then he should make me a mod of this place lol, i don't have a life anyways...heheh

seriously tho...i don't care whether the events are listed or not, cuz I know about them either way...but still...

Posted by bucky on Aug-26-2002 04:40:

I'd assume it depends on the "promoters" supporting this site, and just them asking for it to be listed. When I threw my party back in May with Kimball Collins and Mark EG, I just simply put the logo on the flyer and asked him to list it and it was no problem.. just a thought, Viva seems to be a supporter of the site so it all works out.

Posted by E*Master on Aug-26-2002 05:15:

I agree. Gielen was hyped here more than Fleming. I believe TA sponsored thsi even in some way. I am Guessing Marco V is as well sponsored or endorsed by TA.

Posted by Walter Mindz on Aug-26-2002 05:39:

so let's start to get all events to be listed on the Toronto-TrancEaddict site.

well yeah, thats the same assumption i had. And i think it sucks, on guv's part...that they don't have someone here doing what viva is...cuz i bet there's a lot of people that notice the usual threads that are just posted. i personally don't care...but i think that each event should get the equal support.

thats my 2 cents

I don't think Guv Gives a fuck. They think they do enough advertising and don't need a website such as TrancEaddict advertising them on their Msg board. Besides, if we were to have the TA logo on the flyers for events @guv they will think they are "advertising TA" or some shit and will want money for that. They don't like to do exchanges like some clubs do. It's all about the $$$$$$ for Guv.

Posted by LKD on Aug-26-2002 13:37:

if only these mofos from all these other clubs put the logo on the flyer, there would be a hell of a lot more promotion but these other joints use and abuse the TA auto promotions due to existing fans within.....<<

Bingo number 2.

I mean look at Tribe, all they ask to advertise on their site is put a tribe logo on the event flyer. Guv has had the tribe logo on many of their flyers so I don't see a reason why they shouldn't have the TA logo on some of their events in exchange for a proper promotion in these forums.

It just goes to show how much Guv values the business the TA's bring to the club...

Bah!
Guvernment suxorz anyway.
Always overly packed (on spec. occasions), corrupt&disrespectful security.
Layout is nice, but that's about it...

disrecpectful security? now come on...stop crying. who the hell cares about security as long as they do their job?

And its not always overly packed...Armin in June wasn't as bad as my first time in Guv for Scott Bond.

It's only fair that events that put the effort to put the TA logo on their flyer, and promote tranceaddict.com get priority over events that aren't associated with TA in anyway. They SHOULD get unequal support, because the support that they give back IS unequal.

I know if I put the TA logo on my flyer, I'd expect to get better treatment on the forum than the other event that didn't. THAT is fair.

They do their JOB?!?! Now it's obvious you haven't been to the Guv enough...next time you r there, take it easy on uppers maybe you'll see what's going on around you...
I've been to Armin @ Guv as well...not sure if it was in june though, somewhere around then. I guess you can say it's not packed if you never come out to the dance floor. Could barely move down there. It's a shame really...Guv has a lot of potential, but a pretty bad reputation and an even shittier staff. For most people I know, Guv is the last resort for a clubbing weekend.
Don't take it personally though, it's my POV.

Well I will agree that it was waaaaaaaaaay too packed last I went ther to see Armin. I could not move which is probabyl why I wanted to leave earlier. As far as teh security goes I got nothing against it. When i go there no one gets hurt or stabbed and I feel safe. As far as the staff is concerned I had no use fo them as I refuse to pay their ludicrous prices for Alcohol. but that is perhaps they know that most of their "guests" are under the influence of drugs so they make mroe money of selling water for the same price as beer. But Armin and most of the big names in TO spin there cause they are the only ones that can afford them.

what the hell are you talking about? Take it easy on the uppers? maybe you shouldn't be so sensitive? I rarely take any "uppers" at Guvernment, and I've been there enough times to know what to expect whenever i go there. Maybe you should tell me how the security treats you badly? Cuz as far as I know, its not their job requirement to greet you with a and get down on their knees whenever they see you. They're there to make sure everything is in order...if you want friendly service then go to Wal-mart.

And as for the dance floor being too packed...hmmm, well, I only leave the dancefloor to go to the patio to cool off. Yeah, it can be a pain in the ass, with it being overcrowded...but I don't cry about it. Every club is like that...its just the price you have to pay when going to see a bigname DJ.

And yea, I didn't take it personally but everything you're saying doesn't seem to fit...and I know many people that would pick Guvernment on a saturday night over every other club in the city. I dunno...maybe its just me and my group of friends...but we don't need to be worshipped when we go to a club, as long as we get in and hear the music we wanna hear, then it's all good. I don't care if the big asian security man gave me a dirty look when I passed by him

true true...well, my original question was answered about why some events are listed as events, and others aren't makes sense

Bah, people stop whining about Guv. Its a world class club. It will always be overpacked. Sure the security are meanies, but its not like you have to hang out with them. The fact is, it is the only establishment here that makes the money and effort to bring in the headliners taht we want to see. If you aren't going to enjoy the show, then just wait patiently till system or viva brings the dj. :P

If it was so bad, people wouldn't go. But they do. Hehe, last time at armin, I found myself a spot in the back, with the "e'd out asians" and there was plenty of room to dance.

I think its just your own attitude that determines if you're gonna have a good time. I always go in , and the party always rOCKS. So instead of getting grumpy whenever someone steps on your foot, just chillout and ignore it, smile and have a good time.
