LA peeps def don't know how to drive in the rain!

Posted by DaveT on Nov-21-2011 00:37:

mar. they don't know how to drive in the first place!

But ur right, everyone just slams on their breaks.

Let me guess...this storm probably only had sprinkles but was the Top Story on the news for a major "weather alert" ....

Daze, I love that track.

I don't like the rain. One of the main reasons I moved to LA was because I was sick of rain (and cold... basically winter in general). But it's nice every once in a while, so today didn't bother me too much. Plus everything is so pretty the day after it rains!

People here sure as hell can't drive in it though, sheesh.

If there's one single thing I miss that I had growing up in Florida and you just don't get out here in California, it's the thunderstorms. You don't get the deep thunderous, vibrate your whole house with bass thunder out here. You don't get the insane lightning shows here. When there is lightning + thunder, it's mouch more sporadic and they always seem to have very trebly thunder -- a "thunder" clap with the bass turned down. And people thin a sprinkle here is a downpour.

And you are looking at it wrong. Things aren't pretty after it rains. It's just that things get ugly when it doesn't. Damn smog.

Posted by LAdazeNYnights on Nov-21-2011 09:10:

^exactly exactly exactly exactly

at the end of this summer, two nights before my flight back out here we got an amazing tstorm back home. the first crack of thunder came a bit before 3 in the morning and it was the loudest i had ever heard. honestly apocalyptic sounding, shook the whole house, i wanna say deafening even. it woke my dad. he shared a beer with me and then went back to bed haha. i had a few more beers, got dressed, and went outside

I know what you mean, Dave, I do miss an occasional summer t-storm. I got to experience one when I went back to ATL last month, and I was like "Woah, I forgot how cool this is".

To be honest, though, living there and having to deal with it randomly deciding to pour down rain in the middle of the day with no warning like once a week or more every summer gets old. So does the "two weeks of overcast in a row with a low of 35 and a high of 40, so it's just warm enough to get cold rain instead of snow" nonsense in the winter.

I'd much rather have LA weather and experience that stuff when I go back to visit home than the other way around.

Not quite as fun on a Monday

Posted by jonmitz on Dec-12-2011 23:10:

Average rainfall: 2.61 inches
Total rainfall: 0.00 inches

getting sick of all this cold and no storms

i commute every morning from pasadena to westlake village.

im on the road at 7am and make it to work by 750-755 ish.

this morning i got to work at 9am.

i couldn't believe how many accidents there were on the road, every time i refreshed sigalert there was a new accident. from cars ending up in the center dividers, embankments, etc, it was unbelievable.

do the drivers suck THAT bad that there had to be all these accidents? i think i counted 8 incidents.

Posted by LAdazeNYnights on Dec-13-2011 00:56:

^that's absurd!

reminds me of when I was in CO a few years back skiing over spring break. driving to beaver creek in the middle of a blizzard in this subaru we had rented, watching one car after the next drift off of the road into ditches and each other. almost comical, if it weren't so terrifying
