Adam's a friend of mine, I am going to text him right now and ask him WTF was he thinking!

But on a side note, they are sometimes just puppets :/

Not surprised. The list was made by MTV so they'll list producers who have more mainstream appeal. EDM encompasses so many subgenres that any list would be flawed.(e.g. DJ Mag TOP100) Ultimately, whether I like/dislike the music by those on the list, IMO any exposure of EDM artists is good for the scene.

everyone is trying to cash in on the EDM scene. we all saw this coming.

His name is behind it. If he's not comfortable with it, tell them to use MTV Staff or something. Once his name is attached, it says "I'm comfortable with this" to the whole world.

He should be comfortable with this list. Given that it's published by MTV about mainstream EDM in the US, it looks great. I'd have dropped solveig for someone (maaaaybe armin...), and put Kaskade higher, but otherwise it seems like a pretty flawless reflection of mainstream tastes.

But where in the headline does it say Best MAINSTREAM/POPULAR EDM Artists...

Just saying..

And don't use the "well it's MTV" excuse. It doesn't excuse them from being serious and accurate with their results. You think, if most of those people weren't known to their audience, they would still be listed. No. They wouldn't. In other words, it's a list that's to appease their fans rather than actually call out the "Best EDM Artists" who actually earn that honor.

List like these is MTV's and others chance to put who earns to get exposure some exposure, and as usually they have failed. But instead of exposing better artists and people who are worthy of the mainstream exposure, they play it the stupid and safe way.

relax, it seems like this is a corporate decision. who cares about this list, it is not worth typing a response of that length.

i didn't read the whole thing but this was pretty funny

And if you can't produce like Tisto, at least now you can look like him: The EDM titan's Club Life clothing line just hit select stores in New York and L.A.

I hear you, but it is what is: a list of the biggest names in the US right now. Take it for that and I'd say its pretty good.

Seriously, what's the big deal? MTV is a pop network and they cover pop music. They're certainly not going to get into clubby dance music anytime soon. Not again anyway

I MISS YOU GRIND!

another edm top dj list....right on. better check it out so I can see who I should go see on nye and stuff.

Just proves to me that good EDM remains underground in the US. Fine with me or it might become, er, commercial.

Posted by drEamer on Dec-14-2011 00:13:

i think those are just the artists MTV plays on their videos.....

Mike Foyle is a far more talented "Piano Man" than Avicii could ever wish to be.

Avicii just steals samples from everyone, there is nothing piano about him. Foyle, now THERE'S a real pianist
