Angry Why Does Everyone Do This?!??!

I see at least one post per day that says something like: 'Les Hemstock told me this' or 'I had a word with Tiesto's manager and he advised me that....'

What you actaully mean is: 'I sent an email to the standard address and got a standard relpy saying thanks for your interest dear fan, yadayadayada......'

Maybe one or two of us on here have a direct contact with a producer/artist.... but for the most part you are all just punters who love the music and would love to get closer to the artist in question. At best you manage to mumble a few words to the said artist after a set at a club or such.....

Could you imagine how Tiesto/PvD or anyone else for that matter might react if they browsed this site and saw how many people 'claim' to know them. They would roll on the floor pissing themselves. It's shameful to contemplate!

Just think about it kids! Have a little dignity..... and please don't flame - this is a valid point whichever way you choose to look at it.

No doubt this post will be answered by countless replies like: 'Well Tiesto is actually my auties girlfriend, and we discussed his latest remix of Ian van Dahl's new track - "Let There Be Cheese" when I met him at my local record shop'.

Please spare me, and take this post in the light hearted manner it was intended!

Starfox - I know your reading this right now, this was not directed at you, it was pointed more towards other members of the board, that have names beginning with 'T' that rhyme with 'dig'. :-)

Jarv

PS Since I rebuilt my PC i've not been on ICQ, don't worry - you'll see me soon.

Les Hemstock goes on the Gatecrasher Messageboard that is how it is easy to speak to him, through that!

Posted by Endre on Aug-28-2002 08:15:

aight, i agree with Jarv.
Like you have one word with a artist and then you go like:
"I kNoW ArMiN!!"...hehe, makes me laugh.

Maybe others just take it the wrong way. It's no big deal meeting DJ's, not in the UK anyway. If you spot one at a bar you go say hello, nothing major. Even getting into DJ booths isn't that difficult. So when people are saying "DJ Blah told me this" they're not necessarily bragging, just giving information and backing it up. If they didn't mention how they knew it'd only be asked

Spoke to Sasha the other night about this. He wasn't listening, he was probably a cat... i was quite drunk.

OMFG! tiesto (my best friend) told me that hes making a secret remix of ligaya!!!! he going to invite me round of tea, crumpets and strawberry strumpetts while we listen to it. theres only one acetate going to be made, which will only be playable 100 times! AND IM GOING TO HEAR IT!!! arn't you all jealous!?!?!! ...lol

p.s. spad is right, meeting DJ's aint such a big thing. the only way it could be, if say, you met nick bracegirdle and youve been an avid follower all your life of chicane.. blah blah blah

and we all know how likely that is

Les Hemstock was a name I pulled out of the air.

Yes people meet DJs. Doesn't make them their best friends though - and BTW - I'm from the UK too and I know how easy it is to meet DJs, I've 'met' loads, couldn't tell you fuck all about their work though!!! The amount of times Paul van Dyk has said 'Yes - this is my track' or 'No - it's an un named white label' and the information turns out to be the TOTAL opposite.

But based on whatever sketchy info people get from DJs seems to be considered 'inside information' given to only the priviledged - but it's not!

Let people be!

Jarv,

I see where you are coming at with this one and I disagree. Music is the ;ifeblood of many of the members of this forum. DJs/producers are like the modern day Elvis to some people. Just because you have had the opportunity to meet and/or speak to the top DJs, doesn't make you a f**kin' authority. Leave people be. For some people that will never meet any of these guys, they enjoy the fact that they can communicate in some way. Have some respect for them.

I'm trying to figure out why people from the U.S. talk like they are european, or from another country. What exactly is "on holidays" mean? I wasn't aware of any holiday in the last three weeks. Please clear this up for me if you could. Thanks.

Many Greetings,

Tranzlucent

Then I told him to stop playing fucking ligaya, and bring back the Speedy J he played at Lloret.

Just to fill you in on this, just because someone Lives in the U.S. doesnt mean they arent from another country...

tiesto is the mother of my baby

Posted by Theotrope on Aug-29-2002 16:37:

Be Cool!

PVD is not my lover, he's just a bloke that thinks that I am the one, but tiesto's not my son.

so take my strong advice, remember to always think twice

Posted by Mako on Aug-29-2002 22:57:

MUHAHAHAHAHA :P

that was directed to the brown nosing people...just incase you didn't understand

Posted by Retrokat on Aug-30-2002 02:07:

You know, at the end of Chicago show that PvD did, he stopped signing autographs and handed me the pen, we're like practically family now!

And along the lines of this forum, I'm sick of meeting people, and they claim to BE DJ's. I don't know if anyone else runs into it, but it seems like any time I venture into the suburbs, I meet some guy who had his mummy and daddy buy him a set of gemini's and now he thinks he's Oaky. Of course, this could just be me, but I can think of at least 5 times it's happened to me.

I'm still trying to figure out just when it was that DJs all of a sudden gained status somewhere between superstars and gods.
It doesn't seem like that long ago that there were just a handful (comparativly) of DJs and this superstar status was unheard of. but I can't quite figure out what it was in musical history that made everybody and their brother want to be a DJ not to mention giving some of them godlike status.
