2012.02.23-2012.02.24 The Cosmic Opera: An Extrasensory Dance Event Series

The world of dance music is about to change forever.
This promise of a revolutionary extrasensory dance event series combined with an enigmatic minute-long teaser video and a cryptic Twitter countdown are currently the only clues released from Cosmic Opera a sprawling production set to debut in New York starting this February.
Cosmic Opera will be a new brand of unique events, boasting an impressive team comprised of diverse innovators spanning various industries (music, film, science, production, technology, theater, marketing, and more).
Though details about the series, and the team behind it, are still extremely limited to the public, the anticipation is mounting behind todays launch of the mysterious Cosmic Opera website.
What is Cosmic Opera and how is this show going to change the landscape of dance music as we know it?

i'm definitely interested.
...the cryptic hype-raising promotion is cute & quasi-effective, but I can't stop seeing a Portal in that logo. Just color it orange or blue...
Axwell is one of the lead men involved and is apparently also selecting the other talent. It's also going to be held at Hammerstein... nice.

I'm very interested. Tickets go on sale tomorrow and according to the pricing on TicketMaster, they are $85 each (includes fee).
I tried getting advance tickets today at 10 and no luck. Are these seriously sold out already? What the hell. How many did they even offer? I hope general tickets aren't a bajillion dollars.

I can't seem to get regular tickets today either. Keeps telling me no matches found. Am I an idiot or is this thing fucked?

What the hell is wrong with everyone? $150+? Are people crazy? WTF happened to nightlife?
Hm. I could've gone to Circus Saturday at Webster for better theatrics. They had nice lasers though. Yay.

doesn't seem like a lot of pple on the forum went to this last night but thought I'd post a review for anyone curious. the floor was crowded, balconies were empty, for a sold out show. I snagged a balcony tkt for $42 on stubhub at the eleventh hour & decided to go check it out. I'm glad I did the balcony thing because it provided the best view of the show & looking at the crowd partying below under the sweeping laser lights was awesome.
The Good: It felt like an NYE party, the vibe was great & the dj sets were all good. all in all, best party I've been to this year.
The Bad: It was nothing like advertised-pretty much 3 dj sets with about 5 minutes of acrobat stunts in between, webster hall has the same stunts & better every week. Nothing close to what was showed on the Youtube trailer, no mish-mash of science, arts, edm & sensory stimulation what not, like advertised. the only theater was an opera singer who performed for less than 10 mins with some dancers. Idk what I expected-maybe part stomp, part webster hall theatrics, part science show. I once saw a science show with spacey visuals on a large screen & uptempo music so I thought the 6 hours would include something like that, maybe some theatrical performances/dancing with dance music. This isn't going to change the way NY or anyone else looks at dance music.
However, as I mentioned the sets were great, I am now an Axwell fan because quite honestly I enjoyed his set more than I'd have enjoyed an Armin set, or PVD. I hate Skrillex, Deadmau5 & dubstep but in terms of the music that seems to be taking over the scene atm I do like SHM & Axwell & I'd go see them again. It does seem like they play the same songs/mash-ups in their sets, I'm sure many pple are sick of 'who's gonna save the world' already. but it's like their 'for an angel', some pple want that. great party, definitely felt like a NYE party last night especially with that balcony view, the lasers & such..
