Coachella 2012 (lineup inside)

No more rumors:

Posted by civicstyle on Jan-10-2012 00:30:

So much dumbstep. Wish I wouldn't have bought 2 tickets when they were on sale last year, nor paid for my flights already.

Not my taste at all - glad i dont have tickets.

Posted by Sadface on Jan-10-2012 00:38:

For a festival that has so much hipster cred they really blew it on the electronic lineup.

Posted by djjoshuaallen on Jan-10-2012 00:38:

Snoop and dre put a smile on my face tho!!!

+1 the electronic music on this lineup is AWFUL.
i was really expecting so much more in that regard.

still, 2 years ago i basically avoided the sahara and had a great time...looks like it's the same this time around

the fresh new hip hop is really good imo. radiohead makes everyone happy so that's cool.

lineup is in between ok and good for me...whatever i have friends coming out for it i'll be there.

I guess I will just cancel my plans altogether and boycott this event.

Posted by mar46017 on Jan-10-2012 01:15:

So all of the artist will play twice? Two weeekends in a row? Thats weird.

Wonder if most artists will just spend a week in the Palm Springs area or leave and go back?

Posted by diabloargentino on Jan-10-2012 01:17:

i really like it. sure, most EDM is commercial but they all put on a good show (SHM, Kaskade, etc.). flying lotus is there so i'm happy.

radiohead is a great booking. m83 and explosions in the sky i'm also really excited about.

it's not like i'm going alone so i want music for my gf + our friends to enjoy as well so when i see the shins, arctic monkeys, justice, florence, the weeknd + at the drive in reunions, etc. then i know that we all will have a great time.

how much do 3 day tickets usually go for? never done this before but definitely in for this year.

+1. There are a few hidden on there, SBTRKT, modelselektor, beats antique, amon tobin....

The whole calvin harris/afrojack/guetta/shm/avicii/justice/kaskade/dada life tho, ugh... really... i hope they didnt blow too much money on them

that said, i doubt i will have any troubling finding other acts to watch while they play.

I am selling my ticket. Brochella 2012

They OBVIOUSLY did blow a fuck ton on them. But it's just as obvious that they brought on one or two acts who were like 'you gotta bring on these friends of ours' as part of their contract. Just think of how much really good dance music they could've gotten for the amount of cash they blew on them - be it techno, deep house, (the popular stuff e.g. crosstown really fits the coachella vibe now imo), or even tranz

whatever i'm still in

and yo DIABLO
i know i've met you once or twice before
what weekend you doing chella?? hvae you decided yet? i'm probably doing 2.
if you're doing the same weekend we'll have to put back some beers at one point. i got friends comin out from JERZEY also

FYI, tickets on sale this friday and weekend 1 is almost soldout (only few thousand tickets left after layaway and preorders)

Yeah but even of those gems I got to see half just last weekend. Modeselektor and SBTRKT are both sick and would be nice but the rest just reads like an above-average weekend in las vegas.

Its working for them though, if my FB wall is any indication.

what do you think about weekend 2 tickets?
i might not have the cash to buy them until late this month

Not feeling the lineup at all. Is it just me, or is this one of their worse lineups ever? The only ones I would care to see would be Snoop & Dre & Radiohead.

depends on who you ask

there are some TAs seriously raging hard on facebook right now. i'm not too happy with the EDM lineup (all the mainstream house)

i mean, i get it. i get why you book mainstream house djs and i'm fine with it.

why the fuck do you book 60% of the sahara with mainstream house? there is so much fucking good music and artists out there

seems like such overkill

Posted by DjWoody on Jan-10-2012 01:55:

Wasn't the whole point of Coachella to expose more indie artists before?

yeah!
i haven't been following indie music as much but what i LOVED about the festival in the past 5 years has been that (well this is more for the first 2 chellas i went to when i was still huggee on indie stuff) there's always so many amazing names tucked away in the bottom lines.
i've discovered so much stuff at chella - even a lot of awesome dance music. (my first time seeing sasha&digweed, for instance)

if the lineup was off the hook would you go? you were all about pvd for nye...what happened then?

looks like we know who's playing ar marquee, xs, surrender, encore beach etc in mid april.

Posted by fantasyexctasy on Jan-10-2012 02:25:

Glad I didn't buy tickets. Now I gotta convince the gf to sell hers so we can take a real vacation.

Music festivals are all going commercial nowadays, it might be time to retire from them altogether. I'm too jaded for this shit

we don't all get into every show for free like you man!
as for credit card - yo no tengo. you really think it'll sell out this fast? i was thinking that it wouldn't.. lol

and, here's a serious question. seriously
WHY NO DJ BAS???? wtf. DJ BAS for sahara 1pm time slot would've been fookin mint.
