Ink
Just an observation ...
But they definitely aren't looking like the force in the scene that they once were, and if anything they look to be on the decline. A couple of things point to this such as:
- A further increasing amount of commercial DJS being booked.
- An exodus of local talent like (Carlo, The Junkies, Nathan quitting).
- Several "no name DJs" playing at Zone with an insane cover.
- Headliners usually loyal to INK playing at other venues in the city.
- Weaker long weekend line ups.
It seems like they have gone on total auto-pilot mode with the clubbing / music side of their business.
Perhaps a by-product of their dabbling in restaurants / lounges / condos etc. It almost feels like clubbing side of their business (which is what brought them their success in the first place) has gone on the back-burner with less importance and attention being paid to it.
agree 100% it has been like this for last 3-4 years at least

Originally posted by london_ta If you didn't notice already it seems Footwork is the force to be reckon with now.
Can't wait to hear jay's response if he's still working for them.
Could just be an observation, but recently Footwork's attendance has been hitting capacity on a more frequent basis. I'm sure the INK direction with bookings has a lot to do with it....
I agree their bookings have been getting cheesier and going downhill in terms of actual quality but I don't agree they're going out of business anytime soon. The busiest nights by far are the cheesiest bookings so imo they're only doing what brings them the most profits. As a corporation that's (unfortunately for us) called doing your job.

Originally posted by geroin right.. 3-4+ years ago they were booking techno/tech-house/house legends on a regular basis, i was in my early 20's and enjoyed myself as would any 30+ year old. It has nothing to do with age, they are just constantly booking shit talent, its sickening and sad at the same time.. it started with circa vs guv competition to see who can kill of who first. Guv won but they were left with shitload of commercial djs and there's pretty much no going back now.

Originally posted by PivotTechno Really? The last couple of times I stepped foot in FW, I was very disappointed on several levels - sound quality, music, crowd. Just one humble opinion, but as far as cutting-edge venues go, it's long past its due date.
As mentioned, t'was just my opinion, totally open to opposition. I tend to like a bit of a freakshow when I go out, I like jacking Techno and House, and I like my speakers loud, clear and bass-heavy. I gave FW one last chance with Carl Craig back in Oct, 2010, and none of the above were present - swore off the place after that.
Most T.O. venues are just a bit too staid for my taste - they seem to do well enough without my attendance, so it's nothing anyone needs to get in a knot over, really.
Charles is quite a brilliant business man....diversifying into new product lines/revenue streams is natural for someone at that level. The Guvernment's days are literally numbered; look no further than the Waterfront Toronto development plans. Charles has obviously moved on to different things, and good for him.
Damn, I thought this was about tattoos.
Abercrombie stopped clubbing and all went downhill..lol
