Talking yo...

Wow, what a long fucking night!
In line at 7 and still like 20 people from the front, some guy got there at 2 in the afternoon for god's sake!

Max played an amazing set, got the crowd moving, read the crowd good. This night was just full of surprises!

Saw Nelly Furtado in the Dj booth chillin', saw a lot of peeps that i recognized from various parties.

The night was toped off by me and Ruffryda shaking the man's hand (Max Graham) and meeting him before he left with one of the bartenders.

Paul Walker really kept things going at the end of the night! Pretty packed but theres always room, u just got to know where to find it!

Sorry that u couldn't make it kamakazee, it was a blast!

later.

Oh yeah, and Paul Oakenfold was there too...

hahaha

Posted by Linx_da_cat on Apr-12-2001 14:55:

hahahaha.

anyway...so i take it oakie wasn't too impressive...?

Posted by Evmac on Apr-12-2001 16:49:

hey..

Oakie was good, but after hearing an upbeat set like graham's Oakie kind of lost the crowd, he slowed things down too much i think.

Great Intro song though for Oakie, but then he sloewd it down.

Posted by Linx_da_cat on Apr-12-2001 17:23:

eh..? but sounds like it was a really awesome show though!

Posted by RuffRyda on Apr-12-2001 18:03:

tonic was rammed to shit!! but i didn't mind that at all. max graham was off the fucken hook!! plz do me a favour and go see this guy next month @ turbo!! he honestly plays for the crowd!! so much emotion and energy, after watching him spin, all i can do is grin ear to ear!! like what ev said, oakie then came on and stunk the place up. totally lost the crowd after such a pumping set from max. oakie played maybe 3 good songs, the rest were slow vocals, ok break beats and the occasional retro remix. very disapointing in my eyes!! the resident dj who closed the night put oakie to shame for god sakes. over paid pile of shit!

but onto a positive note. i decide to go get a drink at the bar, wow, who's is standing there? none other then max graham himself. i stood and talked/complimented him for a few mins b4 he departed on his rendevouz. he is such a down to earth guy! the fame has not gotten to his head what so ever!!

overall good nite, great people, really hot chicks every where!! what more can you ask for? also, b4 last night, graham just finished his new track and premiered for us @ tonic. thought that was really cool. well, it's 2pm and i haven't gotten a wink of sleep yet. time to find the bed now. i'll be out of commision for the next few days. RR, signing off...

Posted by Kamakazee on Apr-12-2001 18:20:

Fuck I am so pissed I missed that!!
but i am NEVER EVER EVER , you get the point ever
missed max in may, hope you guys can make it!!
coz that is gonna be sick!!!

damn nelly furtardo was there lol mmm

System...the wise choice

Hi guys I'm a long time lurker...first time poster! Anyway, like everyone else I thought Max had the better set...but I thought Oakie had a nice dreamy set but I've totally heard way better. As for System Soundbar it was the cheaper choice for Oakenfold...it had the perfect room for dancing jus' enough...the screen was cool and the vibe was ok too...the place went mental whenever there a Tranceport track which was cool...I think he spun the Greece 2000 track. One complaint...how come a Vodka&RedBull is ten bucks????

Exclamation Max Grahamage

Once again max blew my mind!!
His sound is so distinct and original, just makes me shake my ass! His last record was SICK!!, i made sure to tell him that when i bumped into him in the washroom.. as it turns out, its a choon that he just finished.. unfortunately i forgot to ask him what he calls it.. if we get the end of his set posted, you'll see just how incredible it is.

i think he got a little carried away with the EQ at times and mucked up once or twice.. i guess whether i'd like to admit it or not, he IS human, hehe..

i gave him one of my mixed cd's as he was heading for the booth.. hope he listens..
SWAMPER, would you listen to a mix (by me) and post it if you liked it?

overall bomb set.. "max graham, pin up DJ of North America".. those of you that know, will know

Im sick of you all people bashing oakenfold, I thought he was fucking awesome and he wasnt that slow at all, he played some pumping tracks, I loved his last song, the real slow melodic trance, if anyone knows the name of it please tell me!!! and yes max graham was amazing too

Wicked Party!

I had a feeling that Max Graham was going to be better than Oakenfold. I wanted to see him. I saw Max at the CNE Center last year and he was wild. I am so happy he is a Gatecrasher Resident now. He is wild, he knows what to play and how to work the crowd.

I am sure that Oakie played one or for Max tracks in the middle of his set. They were the 2 hard hitting tracks in the middle of the set. He also played a track that Pete Tong played on Saturday.

Tonic was jam packed, cool people. I always love Toronto and Canadians. Gosh there are some nice bardtenders at Tonic, helps that drinks aren't too expensive too especially in US Dollars.

Was Nelly Furtado really there in DJ box?! haha That is cool, she is quite pretty.

By the way who are the TUNE guys? I wonder if they know the significance of it.

Well off to PVD at Twilo tomorrow. I hear he will spin for 10 hours! That will be wild!!!

they're my buddies that do promotions for guverment. they have there own little company called tune promotions. on that banner they have every single dj's signature known to man, it really is a sick collection of signatures if you ask me!! everyone from tiesto, pvd, oakie, cox, etc...

Posted by Kevalya on Apr-13-2001 02:54:

Tune!

Tune is from Gatecrasher. It is a tradition which has developed over time where the crowd goes off and screams TUNE when a DJ plays a great tune. It developed into t-shirts, banners, and has been realized by Ministry of Sound where they dedicated I think a CD to it. I thought they were Canadian Crasher Kids. They rule anyway. I seen them get most of those wicked signatures. Tell them I say howsit.

that last song he played was....

max graham - sepia

it was the cdr he was flashing the crowd with. i can't say enough about him...awsome dj!!

Posted by TimeWarp on Apr-13-2001 04:38:

had the worst time last night!..
fuck noooooooooo space to dance.. FUCK tonic!.. they should have been more smart and sold advanced tix so the party kids could jam..
Fuckin drunks were pushing and shoving all over the place..
Got into two fights.. One of them with security ( i elbowed him in the back as he walked by )
Boring set by oakie... kept waiting for buildups.. but nothing but breakdowns..
Max was wicked.. carried the party for sure... amazing set.

As for the whole night though.. if it werent for Graham... i would have spent 25 bucks elsewhere.

Posted by patticus on Apr-13-2001 19:24:

someone want to post tracklistings (full/partial) for either graham or oakie?

or just a list of songs they played, order doesnt matter..

Posted by RaverFriendly on Apr-13-2001 20:41:

Considering i know a lot of ppl know the answer to this..it's not a "anyone know this track" but who can answer it first...haha anyways...what's the First track played by OAKENFOLD?? sweet intro...i've heard it a lot of times..but never got the track name..

Thanx in advance...

By the way...i was the person in the gray maple leafs (Bucket) fisherman hat :P..if any1 saw me!
