Kid beat to death in Philly Friday night

This kid grew up in the same town as me and his Mom and mine have been best friends for many years now. My Mom mentioned he was involved in 'the same scene as me'. I don't know if that means he was into EDM in Philly as well, or if my Mother even knows what my scene is, but either way they're asking for help finding witnesses.

This is a popular part of Philly nightlife and supposedly people were out on the streets when this happened and no one has yet to report information. Just trying to get the word out as
I know some Philly partiers check these boards.

Crazy story when I think to how many times I've yelled at cabbies in the middle of the street. Though another account of the story says he was actually talking with the cabbie, perhaps he refused his destination, other accounts say the cab was already occupied. Sad story either way, kid was just getting started with his life.

yikes, i hate these stories of people in the wrong place at the wrong time paying the ultimate price. It sounds like he was just an all around good kid that was trying to do nothing more than get home safely.

Kinda off topic but still relevant: I wished big cities would do BIG sting operations on the cabbies and still pulling licenses for a month or two for every violation of "my shifts over, i was just seeing if you were on the way to my house" or keep driving past you because you dont have luggage going to the airport. Or better yet, leaving a big event and having to bribe $50 or $100

Thats terrible.

There was a tech house/deep hoouse/prog party at libery bar last week too, so I assume the kid went to that.

edit: in the article it says that he "left Lucys bar on Market Street and headed to Chestnut Street to hail a cab."

Sad

yeah heard about this. last i heard, he was yelling at the cab and the people in the car behind the cab thought he was yelling at them.

totally blows.

man if i was that driver i would absolutely come forward... its usually just a matter of time before they arrest someone and the possible offer of amnesty would seal the deal.

i swear some people are fucking animals... so sad

article says the guy was with his gf & another female friend when they were looking for a cab. aren't those witnesses right there or did they somehow magically disappear while this was going down? at the least they should have got a look at the perpetrators or taken down a license plate no.

this kind of thing also shows how a group of pple, in this case 3 individuals, can all share the same level of stupidity or a singular mind of stupidity although they're different pple; think about it--all 3 of these guys simultaneously decided in a split second that (1). the guy was harassing them & (2). they should all get out & beat him to death. a split second decision that would fk up the rest of their lives if they're caught. stupidity is apparently infectious, but birds of a feather do flock together..

Humans are such animals. I also hate Filithadelphia. Last time I was there, I almost got jumped by 20 people. Such a shit city.

i know this is unrelated, as the cabdriver isn't the bad guy in this case BUT i think it's worth noting that (at least in my own experience) late night cab drivers are generally total scum. usually, during the day time, i find the friendliest drivers and manage to have some really interesting convos with them. late night it's always beg and plead for the guy to even give a ride. when you're finally in the cab he makes blatant attempts to overcharge you and up the fair. i don't take cabs that often but anytime i have done so after midnight it's always been that same sad story.

Have you seen some of their other NYC patrons late at night? This comment (not the tragic story) is no surprise to me. I hate it. On NYE, we left late and had to pay $30 for a car service to the Morgan...that had newspaper covering vomit from some earlier, more awesome patron.

I'd hate everyone if I had to deal with that dipshittery...not to mention that those people tend to tip the worst.

mob mentality. appeals to our most basic, primal urges.

The idea of a reward feels so dirty to me. If I knew someone murdered someone else in cold blood I'm pretty sure I would tell the cops for free, you know, because I'm not a complete piece of shit.

three charged. Remember 3 got out of the car, the 4th person (the driver) stayed in the car.

I hope he decided to come forward
