Please Help Us Save Our Electronic Music Scene!!!

Please Help Us Save Our Dance Scene.

Dear Friends and Supporters,

I am writing to express my concerns about the City of Edmonton trying to pass a bylaw that will harm the electronic music community in Edmonton. The City of Edmonton Administration has made a series of recommendations that will not allow the service or sales of alcohol at electronic music events within the City of Edmonton.

The proposed bylaw reads as follows:
� After Hours Dance Events will not be able to have alcohol at the event
� After Hours Dance Events will not be able to operate contiguous to an event that has alcohol service

This proposed bylaw will have a serious negative impact on Edmonton and the electronic music community that so many of us have worked countless hours to grow and cultivate which has resulted in Edmonton being one of the top communities not just in Canada but the world.

By passing this bylaw the City of Edmonton is unfairly trying to penalize law-abiding Edmontonians and does not sufficiently target the real problems of drug and high risk gang activities.

Executive Committee of Edmonton City Council is scheduled to vote on the proposed bylaw on Wednesday January 25, 2012. Before this date, I hope that as many Edmontonians as possible take time to learn more about the unsupported changes that the government plans to make.

The proposed bylaw will ultimately hurt Edmonton�s reputation as a leader in the electronic music community, it will make Edmonton less attractive to young people who see Edmonton as a vibrant growing city, it will hurt the local economy, and The City of Edmonton will have to replace the funds it no longer receives from promoters that rent City owned facilities to host these events.

Send a message to Edmonton City Council to not pass this Bylaw.
