Thunderstorm in Chicago right now

Jan 22nd.

Seriously though this weather has been kinda freaking me out. This season has not been business as usual in the midwest.

not a usual winter for sure

Michigan winter's a little fucked, too. No real snow storm until January. Right now, it's foggy and not cold, at all.

Up here in Alberta Canada... crazy winter. Super warm, like +5*C and then suddenly we had a 30 degree drop in 12 hours... it's been -30 for about a week and it's back up to +4 on Wednesday....... and we've had almost no snow?

Nothing unusual here in Kentucky. We have a tornado every year in January followed by a few sporadic days of 50-70 degree weather. Come the end of the month or by the middle of next we will have a massive snow storm and then spring will set in.

It's similar this side of the pond. Last year was our worst winter in 30 years, below 0c for a couple of months on end, this year has been mild, some days upto 12c (average high is 6c) and only 2 nights of below freezing point. Generally just been very wet & windy.

This winter is shit in terms of being winter. But I dig. It has been foggy, foggy, foggy, foggy, foggy, warm, warm, warm, warm, warm, warm, wet, warm, warm, wet, warm, warm, warm, warm, warm.. It's like early spring all winter

I'm here in Slovakia, and we should be covered in snow this time of the year. Sunny and 10degrees here.

Posted by Chimney on Jan-23-2012 13:46:

Sunny and +10 in Romania. People are wearing sunglasses.

Posted by meriter on Jan-23-2012 15:19:

45 degrees here this morning

Posted by Watts on Jan-23-2012 15:22:

I'm glad it rained because it washed away the slush people were too lazy to shovel.

And the weather today is great.

Posted by meriter on Jan-23-2012 15:33:

Yup our two days worth of blizzard was practically gone overnight

Posted by tubularbills on Jan-23-2012 17:41:

2 folks died in Alabama from the tornados that ripped thru during the overnight hours. A moderate box from SPC is kinda rare for January.

2012 man. 2012.

Or La Nina. you know, whatever.

This winter blows. We didn't get any snow at all until mid January, and when we did it was like 45 two days later, so it just turns into disgusting slush everywhere. I wish it would either not snow at all, or snow and then stay cold so it doesn't melt and make everything so disgusting.

Here in Texas we need about 2 feet of rain to get out of a drought that started last year.

Posted by Chris Crossland on Jan-23-2012 21:26:

It got up to 56 degrees today in Cleveland....

The Earth's magnetic poles have been shifting for a while. Magnetic north is no longer where it was 10 years ago.
