Things I'll probably never see/hear but want to

This is a take-off thread to Cryo's take-off thread on /little used effects.

So I'm sitting here listening to the original version of Airwave, because unlike you jaded bastages, I have yet to get burnt out on the supersaw and wish death on some poor Japaneese guy for programming it.

After the plucky bits do their thing and the big supersaw pad hits...the now-typical epic/ethereal/uplifting/done to death part, I was thinking about it. And I know this probably sounds bizzarre.

Has anyone ever done a trance/dance song using one of the monster pipe organs for the pad? I can only imagine the pad from Airwave done on one like they show in the "How Music Works" vids on the recent thread.

Or any other big trancey pad really. Hell, has anyone ever done a pro sampling session with one of those beasts?

OK, I'll accept the mocking that's sure to accompany this post, quietly

I'm surprised Monster didn't use a Pipe organ and claim the Dre's could faithfully reproduce the lows in their ads, actually.

So like cryo's thread was Inspired by my thread , I feel like you should of mentioned that. Lots of organs and every stop combination has been done. It would not sound good.

Credit where due. My mistake.

So what is the name of the trance/dance songs with the Pipe organ? I gotta hear this.

I can tell you that what made airwave like able was the sound. Using an organ would make it sound like a harmony 4 part choral you find in textbooks. Generic would not describe how banal and boring that rogression.

I'm not saying it wouldn't sound bad or wrong, I'm just trying to imagine that 'power' and 'bigness' aspect that POs are famous for. Sure you can drop the octave on sawed pads etc and crank it up, but...

I'm just curious if anyone ever applied that specific instrument to this genre and the result. Good bad or otherwise.

Then again, a choral Airwave pad might soud pretty damn cool.

I hope they sidechain the pipe organ

I was once severely disciplined for playing Toccata and Fugue in D minor on the chapel organ at my school during a lunchbreak. Apparently the entire neighbourhood could hear it and thought judgement day had arrived.

I always wondered if one day a rapper would sample the breakdown from "Airwave" and put a beat behind it, much like this:

What terrible time stretching ^^^

I think the next evolution in sound design is getting chimps and gorillas to learn how to sing via sign language. Music companies would no longer have to monkey around with an artist who has a mind of their own.

1. Train monkey
2. Put monkey on tour
3. Profit
4. Butcher monkey for meat

After gorillas and chimps, it will be dolphins. Everyone knows dolphins can shuffle in the water so we are already halfway there.
