DJ Dennis Ferrrer Kicked off Decks in Miami for not being 'Commercial Enough'

"...When the club isn't booking Top 40 hip-hop stars, it's only going after the most commercial names in EDM, like Swedish House Mafia, David Guetta, and Afrojack."
In the aftermath...
"Though the Opium Group is unavailable for comment about the incident, Dennis Ferrer tweeted about it on Sunday, writing, "Haha @mansion_miami made me get off the decks!! said I don't play commercial enough!! WTF!!!!!"
Is this really where things are going? So sad.
Hah Alan Fitzpatrick retweeted that. I've never been to mansion and don't plan on going this wmc either, but it sounds like what they're all about lol. At least they have other places in Miami like Space and Treehouse that are booking more underground sounds.
Welcome to 2010's. Sad times
I like Space. Never even been to Mansion. Good to know I won't have to go there!
I am glad to see he didn't break down and stayed to his genre/his style. He gained respect of a lot more people doing this and not giving in to clubs "top 40" request.
Fuck that.
It would not be wise for them to pull a stunt like that during WMC.
i would have spilled my drink all over those decks if they did that to me

The guys at The Opium Group claim that Ferrer didn't bring the energy up after the opening DJ and continued playing 118bpm Beatport top charting deep house tracks. Ferrer has been there two times in the past and never had a problem. That night, none of this fans were there to support him and people started leaving. The dancefloor was dead and there was no vibe. Ferrer asked if he should step off, to which the guys running the show asked, "do you have anything to pick it up?" and Ferrer replied that he had nothing. Afterwords, their resident DJ played some Avicii and the crowed went crazy. I wasn't there personally. This is just what I heard. No official announcements have been made by Opium.
Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin, Umek, Audiofly, Nic Fanciulli, Joris Voorn have all been there in the recent past. I guess it was just a bad crowd and bad night.
^ There's always three sides of the story. Yours, theirs and the truth.
Didn't Mansion do the same thing to Sander Kleinenberg and Jonathan Cowan couple of years ago and didn't Mansion cancel Funkagenda's gig because they were afraid that he would play too hard/techno. (They ended up booking Richie Hawtin instead for that night, go figure)
Not saying you are lying as I wasn't there either but I find it hard to believe that any respectable DJ would say they have NOTHING to bring up the crowd. That's like admitting defeat, you may as well quit now. Any DJ worth his salt should know how to play to the crowd. That would definitely be a tough comment to live down.
Lets see what FLTA has to say about it:

Could be wrong but I always thought Ferrer was slightly more of a commercial house DJ to begin with. How much cheese were they expecting? Dayumm..
