i foresee an expensive summer. generally always occurs. I just hope it's not as expensive as previous years.
You guys in Southern California need better public transportation especially considering LA is the second biggest city in the country. Just sayin.

^That was very very poor foresight on LA's part for agreeing to that. And very very greedy of GM to do that. smh
One word why many major cities in the US don't have good public transportation.
Big oil.
All those HUGE hundred billion dollar companies and even the small tens if billions of dollar oil companies are the reason why we don't have sufficient mass transportation AND why we don't have an alternative fuel source.
We have progressed an infinite amount since the oil crises of the 70's. Since then, programs for alternate fuel get the plug pulled. People that try to do something on their own and create things on their own and start to look promising get CRUSHED by big oil. Those companies are either bought out and destroyed, or are buried by so much legal paperwork they go bankrupt and give up.
We have known for over 50/60 years (forgot the exact number) that we can run cars on hydrogen/water, ethanol/corn, alcohol, etc etc. We have also known since then our oil supply is finite, and would eventually end. Point is, we could have EASILY perfected one of those alternate fuels to be used in new cars that would run on them. But why haven't we? That's the fucking burn of it all....

The Republicans are pulling strings to make Obama look bad since he was the one who said no to the Keystone pipeline. People, being the dumbasses that they are, actually think this is all Obama's fault. They think somehow that Obama is going to get on the phone and tell the oil companies "Hey guys, this is Obama, let's lower the price of oil". The GOP knows how to take advantage of people's stupidity.
Back when I took economics, gas was at $4.50 a gallon back in 08 and we discussed this in great detail in the class. Those who say that we should drill don't know how the market works. If there is a surplus, the quantity supplied is reduced to increase the price. The oil companies will just make even more money while nothing happens to the price other than it increases. Until there is a substitute on the market, oil is inelastic and there is nothing we can do except ride our bikes or use public transit. In OC there are a ton of people that I've noticed that started riding their bikes in the past few years.
OCTA was thinking about bringing back the street cars but it was quickly shot down once the recession started and gas crept back to under 1.70 a gallon. However, how can we as the most powerful nation not have a public transportation system like Canada's or Russia's where you can get anywhere in the country in under 10 hours for cheap? Oh wait, lobbyist....
How come no one ever talks about the cost of a gallon of milk.

Dairy increases your chances to get cancer tremendously. They are using the RGB hormones in cows nowadays that is causing unique health problems in this country. RGB wasn't meant for human consumption and mutates cells when consumed regularly.
People want to make fun of vegans, but from first hand experience when I worked in the gastrointestinal lab at the hospital, the vegans had byfar the healthiest digestive tract I've seen. A 50 year old man came in and had the lining of a 14 year old, after we woke him up, the doctor informed him of his amazing health. The guy was emphatically telling us "see that's why you should go vegan, I've been vegan for 20 years". There were numerous patients we had that shocked me when I saw how healthy their colon, intestines and stomach were and when I looked at their charts they all said vegan on them. Then there were people in their late 20s that had polyps already forming, something you normally don't see until your 40s. I decided after seeing all the first hand facts that I really should cut meat and milk out of my diet. Eventually I phased it out and now I'm vegan for these health reasons. Watch the movie Forks over Knives, I guarantee you will at least reconsider what foods you do and do not eat.
You want milk, just drink rice milk. It tastes better than cow milk anyway

for $100, gas price fluctuations are due to the instability of what region? remember your answer must be in the form of a question

e: IIRC, the current situation in Iran has been affecting the EU gas pricing (maybe not anymore, someone from EU would have to comment) but not in the US because we dont buy iranian oil, however the actual pricing of oil changes due to the situation in iran, which is quite possible one of the drives for the recent $.20-$.40 increases
You forgot to put Venezuela, Canada, Russia, Norway and Alaska on that map. US only gets about 6% of our from the middle east, most of out comes from Canada
